    What's The Postman Bringing?

The postman is bringing things - and some of these things are very nice indeed - but no new Tarots (until my Victorian Romantic in the wooden box, but that will be some time from now.) I am not tempted. Not even a little bit. I already have a lot of antique patterns, and contemporary art doesn't do anything for me. So la di dah.
  5. I'm caught between "That sounds profoundly horrible" and "Nissy likes it so it must be a pretty good deck." Looking forward to seeing how it reads.
  6. And now ... that breathtaking moment of unboxing, which I have put off for almost 24 hours! Quel restraint! The plastic outer wrap was hard to remove: cross. There was no inner shrink-wrap: tick. The backs are the same upside-down as they are rightway up: cross. The way I opened it, I saw the backs first. The backs have a lovely geometric diagram on them that reminds me of Newtonian scientific sketches, which is lovely. There is an eye on the centre of it, and really? An eye? After so many Tarot decks with eyes on their backs, isn't that a bit of a cliche? I hold my breath and turn it over. No title cards! Great! That is a very big tick. Turns out that the card on the box which I thought was the Moon, was the Fool, presenting first. The Majors are unnumbered, but present in RWS order. Gregory would like Death. It took me a while to see the skull and even longer to see the crucified figure - to me on first viewing it was all about the tangle of machinery, the rose and the snake. Now Temperance. A fish-bodied centaur? Okay. A clock, in front of another clock. A castle wall. Ivy. Ribbons. I can tell I'm going to enjoy this deck.
  7. Just FYI, deck interviews are by no means required or even standard practice. I do know perfectly good readers who use them, but it's an option, no more than that. I can't recall ever doing one, and my cards work fine.
  8. May I jump in? I have a new deck! The Magic Gate Tarot. I'm not sure I'll be doing many formal spreads with it this week, but I'll certainly be getting to know it, and hopefully gloating over the images. Then again, I may actually do a reading.
  9. This is a subject that's been rattling around in my brain for some time now. When we think of womens' rights, we think of things like voting. Suffragettes out there marching with signs. And this is not intended to minimize the good they did. But not everything is the vote. Not everything requires permission. Look at the flappers. Silly young girls, most of them, with nothing on their minds but who might show up for a party. But because of them we are able to: wear makeup (without being branded a whore) smoke in public (without being branded a whore) drink in public (again, without being branded a whore) ride in cars with men (yet again, without being branded a whore) wear comfortable clothes How did they do it? From what I can ascertain, they just started doing those things. There is food for thought here. Here's the quintessential flapper, Clara Bow, in It. And yes, her character is branded a whore - for doing the right thing. But she fixes that. Sometimes we don't need permission. Thoughts are welcome.
  10. It is the August long weekend and I have to do a line up of Greenwood Tarot reading for clients, so Greenwood it will be this week.♥
  11. I agree. There is something weird going on. I've been following this thread with increasing bemusement and confusion, and I still want to know what the OP means by "people like us". I think we're being trolled by someone who wants to wind us up and watch what happens.

10 of cups followed by 10 of swords?

Hi @HighPriestess24, welcome to our community This is a notification that your thread has been temporarily locked. Why? Because of one or more of the following: - It sits in the wrong location (it should be in Personal Tarot Readings) - You lack the required 5 posts for us to move it there. A good way to to reach that requirement is to post in the Introductions area. That way we can also get to know you better! - You haven’t provided your own interpretations for every card you were asking about. When you have reached the required posts, PM one of us moderators and we will move/unlock the topic (and allow you to add your own interpretations, if those were missing) Also, after you have received help, please remember to leave extensive feedback to everyone who helped you out. Thanks! A direct link to our rules, for your convenience: https://www.thetarotforum.com/rules/

10 of cups followed by 10 of swords?

Hi everyone! I’m new here, quite new to tarot as well. Recently discovered my passion for tarot and hoping to learn a lot from all the lovely tarot readers on the forum.. Can someone please explain the combination of 10 of cups clarified by 10 of swords (which was followed by 6 of swords) for a marriage reading?

    What's The Postman Bringing?

loved the Dark Mansion tarot and I am sure you will as well @dfaithberry Mine came weirdly quickly from them in Poland, much faster than they said. Enjoy when it arrives!

    What's The Postman Bringing?

I really like the Dark Mansion Tarot. Enjoy! I received notification that my preorder of the Two Penny Oracle and 5 Cent Tarot are on the way. Should be here by Monday. That's so much better than the estimated "by December 31st" I initially received.

    Lenormand cards: folklore and significations

If the Mountain falls near the significator it looms large and the querent is in its shadow. Whatever challenges it brings there is an uphill battle. In contrast, far away, it is in the distance. Should the significator have cards such as the Hound and the Park (and to a lesser extent the Stars, the Key, the Path) the Mountain can become a protective barrier. The ally being more a product of assistance by your allies. Mountains are well documented in folklore as dangerous territory, home of giants, trolls, and the “other”. But they are also thought to be the resting place of figures such as Frederick Barbarossa.

Ever experience issues connecting with a deck?

I am starting to witness the "go quiet" pattern when using a deck too much too. I am starting to reduce the number of readings I do a day and alternate more between my decks.

Ever experience issues connecting with a deck?

I welcome all thoughts and opinions. I assume good intent and appreciate the intuition of others. Thank you!

Ever experience issues connecting with a deck?

It is weird. When I first used by Light Seer's deck and felt this energy and the cards have spoken to me ever since. I still struggle connecting to the Angel Wisdom deck, perhaps it is the imagery and how it connect with me and how I see then visually (interpretation of the cards)

Ever experience issues connecting with a deck?

Sorry for the delayed response. I did try interviewing my deck but I will try again. The simple three card spread seems like a good option to tryout. Thank you!
  25. The underbelly of fartbook is not interested in facts. They'll use any bogus source to support their claims. (The OP does emit a strong "testing the waters" vibe.) The other day one of them posted a screenshot from FOX showing a crowd of people walking, and claiming they were Haitian "illegals" who had just arrived in Del Rio, Texas. But Del Rio is in the west Texas desert, and the background in this image was lush and green. A lot of what passes for "news" these days is propaganda. News should be facts, not agendas. And it doesn't let up. Just recently someone was putting stickers in the restrooms at my job. The organization they were promoting has an aim of using the blood of people who are not white Christians to "soak our soil to form new mortar to rebuild our landmasses." 90% of the lies are rooted in racism. I have no tolerance for that kind of thing. As long as our news outlets are permitted to lie, we're going to have these problems. Here in the US, we used to have something called The Fairness Doctrine, but it was repealed in 1987 and that's when a lot of the trouble started. They need to bring it back.

    Lenormand cards: folklore and significations

@katrinka thank you so much for the above link ! I see where the near/far plays into it being an ally when distant now that I read all of this.
