	The <a href="https://www.kittenchops.com/playful-heart-tarot" rel="external nofollow">Playful Heart Tarot </a>is one of the decks I would have loved to have! I keep going back to KittenChops' website to look at it and sigh. Today, I saw that the artist is considering bringing back this deck. She asks people who would be interested in buying it to give her feedback, subscribe to her newsletter and give her an idea of how many decks to print. I did so immediately, and if you are interested, maybe you wish to do the same? It's a unique deck, done in watercolours, and it's wonderful to see a deck without AI.

<p>
	I'm sure you'll have your own associations. This seems to be a great deck to work with your inner child, but it also looks layered, complex and with lots of emotional depth behind the whimsical scenes and smiling faces. It is also a Real Tarot, as far as I can judge from the images: it looks readable, and the cards are true to the tarot archetypes.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	There are so many cutesy "artificial" decks floating around right now, so much AI, and so many "copies of copies". I hope KittenChops will get the support she needs, re-print her deck, and even if the shipping kills me, I'll buy it.

	How important is the colours in a deck for you while you are doing a reading?
</p>

<p>
	For example: The Magician will have a black robe or the Empress will have a purple dress.
</p>

<p>
	Will you even notice that?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Most of the times the colour is saying something in the interpretation of the cards.
</p>

<p>
	So if the deck is black and white, much of the feelings will be very lame for me.

	Just a question. I bought a black and white deck recently - just a little Chinese cheapie which looked cute and probably AI - and a review I later found said it was a knock-off copy of a coloured one called the Leisurely Cat Tarot. I found that on etsy - sold out - but I suspect that was also a knock-off as the etsy seller refers to a QR code on the box that doesn't work. I've looked all over and all I can find is that the artist MAY be called Irtush.
</p>

<p>
	Does ANYONE know who created it - or anything else about it ?

	There is a number of decks in my collection that I don't read with, that I don't completely understand, that would require a lot of work to get into - but I don't want to get rid of them. I hold on to them in the hope that one day, I'll kick my own lazy ass, dig into the deck and start working with it. These decks interest and somehow fascinate me, yet I never really get into them.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One of these decks is the Tarot of the Holy Grail for me. The Grail story is interesting, and the deck is very beautiful.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="49948" data-ratio="71.50" style="width:400px;height:auto;" width="432" alt="week20190126grailtarot.jpg.948ff09b17612ffb6514d5ae41c74d2c.jpg" data-src="https://www.thetarotforum.com/uploads/monthly_2026_02/week20190126grailtarot.jpg.948ff09b17612ffb6514d5ae41c74d2c.jpg" src="https://www.thetarotforum.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The book is intriguing, but I can only read it in small instalments, then my brain shuts off. Has anyone successfully worked with this deck? How can I get the hang of it?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	A similar case is the Cathar Tarot. Again, medieval lore, Christianity and heresy - all very interesting to me.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="49949" data-ratio="152.19" width="251" alt="CatharTarotXIItheEndura.jpg.ad5c120147a2843e9846157a304e64fe.jpg" data-src="https://www.thetarotforum.com/uploads/monthly_2026_02/CatharTarotXIItheEndura.jpg.ad5c120147a2843e9846157a304e64fe.jpg" src="https://www.thetarotforum.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	As in the Grail Tarot, the card names are changed, and without the book, they're really difficult to understand. Furthermore, I'm not really fond of the art; it's some kind of computer graphics that's supposed to look like medieval drawings but doesn't.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	There are more... but these are the two decks that baffle me the most. Actually, I like decks that require some work, that nudge me into expanding my horizon and getting to know fairy tales, mythologies or belief systems that I didn't know before. So why do I hold on to them? Are they "fantasy self" decks? Probably. But they hold some promise. I'm sure that if I just could get into them, they would reveal something to me.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have a number of books, in addition to the books that accompany these decks, that I could use. I have recommended often three work books that have helped me getting to know some decks better, and I'll repeat myself here.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Andy Matzner, The Tarot Activity Book, reviewed <a href="https://benebellwen.com/2017/03/15/review-of-the-tarot-activity-book-by-andy-matzner/" rel="external nofollow">here </a>by Benebell Wen - a great well of ideas to work differently with the tarot, and certainly many ideas can be used as ways into a deck you haven't found access to yet.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Lynda Cowles, The Tarot Playbook. Like Matzner, Lynda Cowles has a lot of great ideas on how to approach the cards from different angles. More playful and light-hearted, it's also a good resource when you're in a tarot rut (a tarut! I just invented a word!).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Alison Cross, Tarot Kaizen. This book is specifically for getting into a headscratcher deck. Maybe I should follow my own advice, get this book and the Tarot of the Holy Grail out, and work through them!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What about you? Do you have such decks? Do you let them go at some point? Did you have a breakthrough with a deck? Any tips?
</p>

<p>

</p>

	Hello friends, whom I have been ignoring for at least months... don't think it is years.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I think of TDM as my home base, especially a Conver version. And I've finally managed to make some progress with Thoth.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	But lately, I find myself going back to good ol' RWS... RWS has been my daily driver for a while.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have dozens of great TDM decks... I have not dozens, but tens (?) of mind-blowing art decks.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I don't have a great RWS deck. I have ones I like, I have ones that talk to me.. but not one that makes me (and it, I hope) feel special and spiffy. They're all mass market.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So.... FINALLY!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The point of my post...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I am on the hunt for an early RWS deck with no copyright symbol. Blushing Fool, blue box... all that... I don't have a preference. I am looking for a "special" RWS deck. Vintage, no copyright symbol/text.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	As I said, I have been so absent and unresponsive, and here I am, asking for help.  I understand that.

	Well, since we already have a de-enabling thread, I thought we should also have an enabling one. It is only fair after all. Plus I have proven over and over I'm a disaster at de-enabling people...

<p>

</p>

<p>
	There was not a single de-enabling thread at now-defunct AT, but a veritable cornucopia of them, so I'm linking my search instead of a particular thread: <a href="http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/find.shtml?cx=008526656784353379572%3Aw1vqc7clg1y&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=enable+thread&amp;x=0&amp;y=0" rel="external nofollow">http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/find.shtml?cx=008526656784353379572%3Aw1vqc7clg1y&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=enable+thread&amp;x=0&amp;y=0</a>. I'm always a day late and a dollar short, as the saying goes, but we're on "skunk watch" so I was just quietly surfing around on Amazon and ran across two decks I couldn't talk myself out of.  After arguing with myself that I don't need any more decks and oh yes I do need just two more I finally ordered them and they're due to be here on Tuesday.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One is the Arcane Tarot and the other is the Grim Tale Tarot.  I absolutely <em>have to have</em> these two new decks! The Arcane and the Grim Tales are very necessary to carry me through the ordeal of the skunk watch and the moving of three houses.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Anyway, does anyone else have these decks? If so, what do you think of them?  I love Llewellyn decks for the card stock and that enticed me with the Grim Tales, for one thing.  I also just loved the looks of the Arcane so I'm excited to see if it's as wonderful as it looks.

	<span>Right now, a very interesting hashtag is making the rounds on TaroTube: #editorspickdecks. I have watched some of the videos with this hashtag, not all of them, and I think we can extend the idea to the written word and give the word to those of us who don't have a YouTube platform. </span>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	<span>You can, of course, pick and choose what kind of deck you recommend - you don't have to answer all 15 questions. But this might be an interesting starting point for people looking for deck recommendations. If enough people participate and give their answers, I'll turn it into a list with links, if that's okay. Why should YouTube have all the fun? </span>
</p>

<p>
	<span> </span>
</p>

<p>

	For me, it's the Universal Waite I got about 13 years ago in a trade on AT.  I traded an edition of the Bohemian Gothic (remember the printing that some decks had red spots?  I got TWO of them) for a Universal Waite deck, the one that was printed in Belgium.  It was used, but in good shape.  I LOVE the Bohemian Gothic, I now have a first edtion and would never trade it.  BUT the one actual deck I've had the longest, UNI WAITE.

<p>
	I had decks before that, but they were traded away.

The Star Tarot by Cathy McClelland.  <em><strong>The original Majors deck.</strong></em></p><p> </p><p>
BEAUTIFUL and, while the cards are HUGE, not what made me move it along. In fact, they were so gorgeous in the large size. </p><p> </p><p>

	I’m looking for inspiration and would love to hear about any decks (tarot or oracles) where the artwork is rendered in ink. It’s fine if the artist added some color, but I want the art to be predominantly ink and the shading to be done in ink (not just outlined in ink). <br />

</p>

<p>
	Two decks that come to mind are the Wild Unknown and Tarot of the Abyss. I own the former but not the latter. It would be cool to see more decks that are done completely in black ink, like the tarot of the abyss. <br />

</p>

<p>
	I am honestly not looking to buy more decks but rather wanting to look at different inking styles for inspiration and artistic nourishment. I’m doing an artistic ’depth year’ of sorts where I’m focusing on getting better at inking, and I have been drawing with ink every day since last spring. It’s been so much fun! <br />

</p>

<p>
	Do share pics of suitable decks if you have them! <br />
