I’ve just noticed that the Queen of this suit is actually labelled ‘Reyne de Baston’ which I think makes her Queen of the fight.

 

 I can’t imagine this is a misprint given Dr Ben-Dov’s care in recreating the Conver deck, so I’m wondering what the significance is?

Hi @v_quixotic I've moved your thread into the forum's TdM section as it fits better there as a specific enquiry about the Reyne 🙂

His book doesn't mention it, so I don''t think it has any real significance.

The link was fine. It was the text in the quote. We have a lot of members whose first language is not english, who might be using translation software of some kind, but I've never seen it come up in a quote so it's odd. 

The original Conver was the same way. This is an accurate reproduction by Yves Reynaud. So the one to ask would be Conver himself, and, well...

I checked my four TdM decks and found this "nuance" only in the Conver deck (the queen is «bastone», all the others are «batons»). Interesting....

(but personally I have never focused my attention on this before ....)

While I have nothing against the Russian people (we've had bad leaders, too, you can't blame the whole country) I really don't like quotes mysteriously popping up in Russian. In light of the things that have gone on in recent years, it's uncomfortable.

Yes. And I don't see anything in the settings to change the language of the board or anything like that. So nothing's been enabled by mistake.

Why just this thread ? (and we have to talk about it here even though it is , as this seems to be the only thread affected.)

And I feel sure that the bastons thing is totally insignificant and relates at MOST to heraldry, and in CBD's case to the fact that he was sort of reproducing Conver, who did it way back when...
