ilweran Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 I've done two - though to be fair one was just throwing the cards in the air so not really a planned out spread at all - though I saw a spiral and someone else saw a circle with another two cards in the centre and one to the side. My more traditionally done spread had two oracle cards in the center for an overall message for the year, and a circle of 8 cards for the wheel of the year, starting with Imbolc. The Oracle deck was the Celtic Shaman's Pack and the tarot deck the Greenwood. Still writing down my initial thoughts on it.
Disa Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 I just found 2 spreads I'd like to try. I'm just about to start them now. I'm using the Tarot of the Abyss, which is my choice for the deck of the week.
DanielJUK Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 I've moved this over to Tarot Spreads as it fits in with that section better 😀
DanielJUK Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Just to let everyone know I've moved @Kristy's 2022 reading into it's own thread over here If you want to post your own 2022 readings, please post them in Personal Tarot Readings if you want help with interpreting them (follow the rules post at the top of that section), or post them in your own journal in the journal section if you just want to record it on here and don't need help with it 🙂

There is an old traditional tarot spread with the calendar wheel. It's based on astrology chart wheels (it has a sister spread that uses houses in each positions). There are multiple ways of doing it, the traditional method I have in a book starts at card 1 (January or whatever month you want to start with) it at 9 o'clock and then it goes clockwise. In an astrology chart, real time goes clockwise and the houses and movement of the planets are counter clockwise. Other people have first month January and go Counter Clockwise. I notice a lot of people now start at 12 as the first month these days and go clockwise. However you want to lay it out, deal 12 tarot cards for each month ahead and put a 13th in the middle as the overall theme. So it's predicting month by month ahead.

AlbaTross Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Indeed, and I think I got the best possible reading this year: I think I definitely chose the right deck too. I’ve made a point of using a different one each year, but this is the spread I’ve been using since 2020. It involves separating the Major Arcana cards and drawing one. That card represents the whole year, and is present throughout. I got The World this year! It’s pictured in the top left. After that the remaining Major cards are shuffled back in the deck, and 12 more are drawn, each one representing a month of the year. It goes in rows, like a calendar, with the top representing January, February and March, the second row representing April, May and June, and so on and so forth. I then go over the year, and January, and also see how the two tie into one another. I leave future months for when they come around. When February hits, I examine February and the year, and like with January, I’ll see how the month and the year tie into one another. I actually did mine at the same time as I did one for each of three of my friends. The cards seemed to especially tell each of us something we really needed to know.
Chariot Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 I've been searching the forum for advice on how to do a yearly spread. I quite like the one @AlbaTross posted on this thread last year ...the technique of drawing a major arcana card to signify the whole year is one I will try. And taking the cards three at a time for the 'quarter' also makes sense, as things don't necessarily change month to month. However, I have done several 'year' spreads over the years, a couple on 1 January, and also a couple on my birthday at the end of June. I've pulled the 12 cards, assigning a month to each, as usually suggested. However—and this is strange as tarot readings I do for myself are usually spot-on—I have NEVER had a 12-card year-reading make any sense! I mean never. Not even a single month, a single time! Bad stuff forecast? Nope. Good stuff forecast, nope. Focus of activity, nope. I've gone back over my journaled entries for years past, just to check if I missed something, and nope nope nope. I've got to the point where I just don't bother any more. Is anybody else experiencing this kind of outcome? Does anybody here have any recommendations? Mindset? Ritual? Etc. What am I doing wrong? Maybe a different kind of spread altogether, that doesn't specify months, but just gives a general overview? Dunno. But I'd appreciate some input. It's annoying to constantly fail at this kind of reading.
