Good Evening

I’ve been using the Rider-Waite Deck for a few months now and have recently become enamoured with the teachings of Qabalah.

I want to set up an intimate, educational, and philosophical study group for mature beginners  ( 30 plus club ) via Google hang outs on a weekly basis ( GMT ) who also share an interest in learning the Hermetic Qabalah in conjunction with the Tarot decks produced by the members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

1.     The Golden Dawn Tarot

2.    The Rider-Waite Deck

3.    Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot

4.   The hermetic Tarot deck

I’ve just purchased “The Chicken Qabalah “of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford ( thanks to the recommendations on this forum) and am currently reading “The QABALISTIC TAROT” by Robert Wang.

Weekly meetup times and days are not set in stone. I’m just gauging an interest first.

Just to clarify, I am not an expert in either Tarot or Qabalah. This is a group for beginners; however, heavyweights are more than welcome to join!

1.       Weekly online study group via Google hangouts ( video and audio )

2.       Mature group ( 30 + )

3.       Weekday evening and time zone ( GMT )

4.       1 hour duration

5.       Free to attend

6.       ( Intimate group ) Looking for 3 people

7.       You use the Tarot decks produced by the members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

Did anything ever happen with this? Would someone like to do something like this (again)?

I was wondering about this too. Not sure if it worked in the end for the OP.

I'd love to take part in something like that - except in a text format rather than audio/video? My concerns are mostly the technical aspects (there's nothing worse than a freezing/jumpy connection) plus logistics: how many people in various time zones and interest in Kabbalah will realistically have the same free hour on the same weekday nights?

But if there was a Study Group or a Club, I'd gladly jump in 🙂

I'm not sure how these study groups and/or clubs work, are they just topics in the forums or something else?If they aren't and there are people that are interested isn't it nicer to be topics in the forum or subdivision or something?

Typically they’re not forum topics. A club can be a group of likeminded individuals who wants to work towards a shared goal, or practice/study a specific thing. And some groups might also be more coven like.

Study groups are great when they work. Then they become a structured place for specific work, and people can support one another and discuss what they are learning. I definitely think there needs to be a dedicated place for that. Those who are serious about their studies would probably not like it if they did them in a regular discussion thread where other members can randomly pop in and present their thoughts. It’s like having a dedicated room (like a classroom or study hall), instead of trying to do the work at a large group mingle.

The problem has always been getting enough people interested in specialist areas of tarot to do something regularly.

I see. It makes sense, true. But maybe if its open(or at least behind login) then more people may be able to join up at any moment? That could solve the problem of not enough interest, also in some cases people find it very useful to read and not always want to write... I don't know, just wondering, coz a group of 3-4 people on such a complex topics, may disband somewhat fast if it isn't very open.

There is this whole Esoteric subsection of the forum. Members interested in the area are welcome to post anything they want on that topic in this area. Their ideas, their study guides, it's welcome.

If someone wants to organise some sort of study meeting, that is fine. We don't have time in the forum staff to organise things like that and it's failed before because there just isn't enough people to regularly commit.

I think making threads studying Esoteric areas like what happened in the Thoth section, is a good way to go. Members can add their own posts to the discussions in time.

We don't mind making an index later on of all the related threads of a section.
