Rachelcat
Monday on Sunday Hi, everyone! Another week, another deck! This week will be Lo Scarabeo Anima Antiqua Naibi di Giovanni Vacchetta Torino 1893. I have two other versions that are colorized, the LS with green borders and muted colors, and the Il Meneghello with brighter colors. This one is a photo repro in black on sepia. It has more or less illustrated pips, the Moon and the Sun are Diana and Apollo, and, as the booklet points out, the coins feature the names of real Roman emperors. The As di Denari shows the tax stamps of the Kingdom of Italy, 1908. It’s an interesting work of art produced 15 years before the RWS deck. Wash, shuffle, and interview! What is your most important characteristic? As di Bastone A jester’s scepter and crown with lots of bells. Going with that instead of card meaning, the deck elevates, by making beautiful and significant, something that’s not very important, cards for a game. A lot of effort (wands!) was expended for ephemera. What is your strength? IX Bastoni “Sweet sound” from a portable organ. Wands as organ pipes, very original! Individual (9) effort (wands) has created something beautiful, both auditory and visual. Your weakness? II Bastoni One of several “title” cards in the deck, with the artist’s name and date. A well-dressed child page upholds two elaborate torches. Maybe he’s leading guests into an elegant banquet or ball. Although the deck depicts lots of fiery energy, it’s more static than active. What can you teach me? Caval di Bastone Continuing the jester theme of the ace, with bells on the hood’s ears, tunic, and horse’s fringe. And the scepter of the ace. It will teach me to go forward (or backward, considering the direction the horse is going) without taking myself too seriously. Expend some energy for fun and games. How can I learn it? La Forza She has both the column and the lion, but the column isn’t broken. She tames the lion with a gesture, strong without violence. It takes determination and strength, but not conflict, to take time to have fun. Be serious about having fun. What will be the outcome of our work together? Il Diavolo This might be my favorite Devil of all! Ok, a lot of mouths here! The devil is in the hellmouth, and he’s yelling at the snake head a the end of his own tail, who hisses back! Now that I see the claws a the bottom, is this what is inside the mouth of the lion on la Forza? No wonder she’s telling him to shut it! I love the illustration of the teeth and how the devil is sitting on the tongue like it’s a cushion. In the end, I’ll see the deck as a collection temptation, and will use the other versions I have to read with, and this will stay on the shelf. Wow, all fiery cards: 4 wands, Strength, and the Devil has fire at the bottom. It should be a fun week of active readings!

Bodhiseed
Thank you for the new week's thread, Fire cat! This week I'll be using the Light Seer's Tarot, created by Chris-Anne Donnelly and published by Hay House. The other deck I'll be drawing from is the Tapestry Oracle, created and self-published by Kendall Eifler. Today's draws are the Page of Swords and Darkness: There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept. ―Ansel Adams Mental constructs have a heady effect on this intellectual Page. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the world experience she to realize a concept doesn't cover everything. Unfortunately, that's how extreme 'isms' get born, like nihilism or asceticism. The Buddhist lojong slogan, "Self-liberate even the antidote," points out that even ideas that are useful in some ways can be too constrictive for the constant change of life when applied too widely. The card Darkness shows how tightly held constructs can shrink our world, squeezing out any hope for other possibilities. Even when those opportunities arise, we can be so blinded by our ideas we don't see them.
Misterei
This week's deck: Triunfi Della Luna I've had this deck a while. It's been about 50% hits and 50% misses ... so I thought a deck interview might help. @DanielJUK unearthed some old posts from this forum. This the the Jewel Deck interview posted in 2018 ... not quite clear who's spread it is ...? Posted February 28, 2018 The New Deck Jewel Spread 1. The energy : a description of the energy, the essence of the deck. = PRIESTESS Of COURSE it's priestess. My stalker card. How could it NOT be Priestess? This priestess is quite interesting. She isn't holding a torah on her lap, she stands amidst a pile of burning books. She's burning the old stories. This is a deeply transformative and mysterious energy. 2. The reason : Why has the deck come to me now (or why do I feel the pull to work with this deck now).= 8 CUPS This attraction to the deck is for spiritual exploration. To go deeper than surface emotions. He leaves the rain to walk toward the sun. He smells a flower but blood or sap drips from where it's been cut. His walking stick has a crescent moon. 3. The teachings : What is the deck here to teach me and help me explore? = 9 CUPS This is an odd 9 cups. I think I might prefer the Pips verion of this deck ... but he's fat and has an eyeball on his stomach. He doesn't actually look that happy for having all those cups. I think the deck is teaching me about desire, wanting the correct things, the eyeball on the stomach is similar to various old italian decks that show the Devil with eyeballs in various parts of the body. I take it to be the lower chakras being [too much?] activated. Desire and wishes is what this deck is here to explore. 4. The effort : What does the deck ask of me in order to get the most out of our relationship? How will the deck challenge me? = 3 SWORDS I re-worded the original question. So this deck will challenge me by breaking my heart haha. This deck is not a happy deck and can show the painful side of things or explore painful areas. 5. The limitations : What are the areas that are NOT the deck's expertise ? For what subject or aspects of exploration should I use another deck? = 4 COINS This deck isn't suited for business or mundane topics. Not for paying clients. 6. The gift : What gift could I receive or discover out of my working with the deck? = MOON Moon + Priestess. this deck definitely wants to go to the mysteries of the abyss. 7. The whisper : a message from the deck with guidance for the present time. = 5 CUPS "Like tears in rain ..." as Bladerunner says. I must reflect on this one. I can't say that I understand it yet. SUMMARY: The predominance of CUPS suggests this deck operates in the emotional realm. Luna is the deck's theme and even in its title ... I seem to be attuned to that energy since I got Priestess and Moon. Priestess, Moon, and 8 cups all suggest either Moon or pisces energy. Asian new year is new moon in pisces, so they're connected astrologically. Edited September 20, 2023 by Misterei
