Hi !
Here is interesting tarot spread we can use, so we align some good eastern divination systems with Tarot. We talked about it in another topic, so here is what one can do to use it in practice.

First we need 6 positions. For that we set 6 cards we set one by one from bottom to top. We count odd cards as Plus/Yang/Unbroken Line. We count even cards as Minus/Yin/Broken Line. So 5 of wands - yang line as its odd. Magician - again yang line as also odd(1). 4 of cups - yin broken line, as its even.
That means if its odd card we write unbroken line. If its even card we write broken line.
We don't shuffle the deck once first card is set.

Then we write line by one what we have arrived at.
Should look like this:

䷉(hexagram 10)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagram_(I_Ching)
So this(hexagram 10) is first 2 cards are odd, so 2 unbroken lines. Then 1 even card, so third line is broken. Then 3 more even cards.

Now, this as we see has 6 positions from bottom up. Here we will present 2 ways of finding out where is Self and Other line.
Self line/card will represent us/significator. Other card will be the answer to our question, reflection of what we ask about in the outside world(or inside, if we are positioned outside).

To view what is where, we need to have our hexagram, so the sequence of broken and unbroken lines that we draw ourselves from the even/odd lines. Then here are 2 ways:
Way 1:
download this nice document:
https://www.biroco.com/yijing/eh.pdf
Don't have to read it, won't need the rest for here. Although if curious its good material. We need, however on page 10 where it says:

"The following table shows the shì and yīng lines for every hexagram."

In here we look at the position S(Self) and Y(Other) line.
So if we have lets say Hexagram 1 where all cards are odd numbers we know that Self line is line 6 while Other line is line 3.

Way 2:
We go here:
https://www.bright-hall.net/wwg/
We click the lower trigram first then choose what we arrived for ourselves.
We click then upper trigram and again choose what we arrived at.
And it will mark the Self and Other line by itself.

Both should arrive at the same thing.
At this point we should have a hexagram with marked Self and Other line and 1 card on each line.
One definition of the other lines we can read from the same website. I will copy and paste the definitions from there:

Quote

Line 1 - Space.what we step on, where the roots are, ground, the earth below car garages of concrete and stuff. The background, things happen on. In reading a letter it can be paper. In eating it would be food. In life it would be mechanical activities one does every day or annually. Routine. The things one does to stay alive and in shape, without thinking about them much.
Line 2 - Human.the community of people, variety, merging and going apart, life(organic and not only) home, homie, fireplace, gathering around something, closeness(human and just closeness).
Can show enclosed spaces like room, or house, or car, as its between heaven and earth. Strongly here, I am presence in the nearby places etc. So relaxation, but not as much as it carries life ideas as well(activity, again depends yin or yang line I guess).
In spiritual systems can show the Deva of a place in its effect, while line 3 would show in presence.
Would be the written words if we look at letter.
Would be the human being that is eating and his process of doing it.
Line 3 - Time.the ideas and abstract concepts related to what is happening. If we look at letter will be the meaning the reader is seeing in it. Would be the original Qi and sustains derived from the food.
In orchestra while the room and instruments can be line 1, people line 2, the music can be line 3(intangible and moving through time).
Very connected to time in the sense of 'plans at home', so the view of the person to their family and their own personally 'future'. Hope. Plans.
Whole upper trigram is the environment this(lines 1-3) is happening at.
Line 4 - Larger, usually open ended encompassing space where the first 3 lines are in. Can show floor on the second floor(the concrete etc.) Floor of an escalator, or a swimming pool the surface of the water(floor above the floor).
Also whole humanity support, so firefighters, police departments, anything that is giving the support for humanity on a outside perspective(when out of home).
Streets outside as well, stores etc.
Line 5 - Leader. Cross section of roads. Someone carrying the burden for others(firefighter in the car, police regulating force etc.)
Meeting point of roads or ideas.Hub. Someone taking the blame(as it comes with responsibility and see from a far). Carrying the ideas from above to below. Mail service. Weather service etc.Responsible(can be betrayal or a good leader and organizer of flow).
Line 6 - All outside of the situation, things we don't know are part of the question, thoughts and emotions, outsiders, beggars and hermits, the state ones are if/when they carry the light or are just happy and in the moment, clouds and Images.

Then we just read it like normal spread, but the added meaning from the line positions.
So this is the first step. Second step - changing lines if there is enough interest to be worth going deeper into that.

So how do we use it in practice. Lets say we have 9 wands/rods and we do use the meaning described in the other topic.
9 of rods in:
Line 1 - many purely material opportunities coming. Like buying a better tools for work or finding shorter path to somewhere(purely physical) etc.  Stuff that could help with routine everyday life and activities.
Line 2- opportunities connected to home/family and people close to us. That can be chances to patch things up or to help in something they are doing, but its aimed at the people around us and our home.
Line 3 - opportunities connected to plans at home. Vacations, maybe education or movement, maintenance stuff maybe, really depends on the question, but its home + time, so stuff that is long term for vision forward. Can for example be one looking for where to move, and having many possible places showing and disappearing... Or choosing university or something else related to home etc.

Line 4- opportunities connected to support structure outside. Can show shops or government buildings and workers. So depending on the question if one wants to buy something, for example and it is 9 wands and one use same structure to read it, it may show they will almost find it in many shops out there yet its always not exactly that. Then they find some version of it and grasp it, while more options show up preventing them to buy it, as explained in the 9 wands topic.
Line 5 - opportunity to play as a meeting ground/leading/converging different things. This is a little more abstract, but its a center in a sense, so it could mean one would be better suited to lead something, and have many chances helping with that, or something else depending on question and context.
Line 6- something outside the question. In that sense, many opportunities that aren't part of that normal cycle of material life, can be spiritual or in some other way not connected to society position represented in the other lines in our view to the question.

Yang card, so activity on that level. Also suggests we write unbroken line at that position. : )

Why use that instead of normal spreads... Well, I don't know how much we will develop this, but lets say there is a potentially long path forward from this that can add more and more to it. If we continue on this with time it could become obvious. So far it doesn't offer much more then a normal familiar spreads, that is true. But... Again, there is more that can be added to it, that could not be added to normal spreads.
For now, the next step is planned to be changing lines, when people get used to this if there are enough people interested to be worth to continue.

The Yi Jing (I Ching) Tarot Spread combines the wisdom of the ancient Chinese divination system, the I Ching, with the symbolic insights of tarot. This spread typically involves using hexagrams from the I Ching alongside tarot cards to provide deeper layers of meaning and guidance.

Position Meanings:

  1. Card 1 (Bottom Line):

    • Description: Represents the foundation or the initial stage of the situation.
    • Interpretation: Look at the card's meaning to understand the starting point or underlying energy.
  2. Card 2 (Second Line):

    • Description: Represents the developing stage or the process of change.
    • Interpretation: This card shows what is currently happening or the immediate influences.
  3. Card 3 (Third Line):

    • Description: Represents the transition point or a crucial moment of decision.
    • Interpretation: Provides insight into what needs to be considered or adjusted.
  4. Card 4 (Fourth Line):

    • Description: Represents the beginning of manifestation or the initial results of actions taken.
    • Interpretation: This card indicates what is starting to take shape or the first outcomes.
  5. Card 5 (Fifth Line):

    • Description: Represents the peak or the culmination of efforts.
    • Interpretation: Shows the highest potential or the major influence at this stage.
  6. Card 6 (Top Line):

    • Description: Represents the final outcome or the resolution of the situation.
    • Interpretation: This card provides a glimpse of the ultimate result or conclusion

Combining with I Ching:

  1. Hexagram Creation: Each tarot card’s interpretation will guide you in creating the hexagram. Yin and Yang lines can be determined based on the nature of the tarot card's message (positive/active for Yang, negative/passive for Yin).

  2. Hexagram Interpretation: Once the hexagram is created, consult an I Ching reference to understand its meaning, integrating it with the insights from the tarot cards.

This is a very interesting spread.  I'm looking forward to playing with it.  I sometimes now combine the I Ching with my readings -- since I have been working with Benebell Wen's Spirit Keeper's Tarot.  She assigns a trigram to each card in the deck.  Thanks for sharing.
