Looking For A House Spread - Can You Help?

I have a querent who is a lady in her 50s who has been looking for a house in town for five years, I told her that I read the tarot, and we had a brief conversation about tarot cards & readings. I didn't have my cards with me, but I said that the next time I saw her I would do a reading for her.

How would you approach a question like this? What kind of spread would you use?

I'll be seeing her in a few weeks so I will have time to prepare for the reading.

Thanks for your help!

I would pinpoint everything that she’d want to know and then I’d create a spread based on that. I think it would be a good idea to wait until you see her in person and then have a notebook where you can plan the whole thing together. I’d try and make it centered around action and advice, so for instance “what type of approach would best serve X when looking for a house?” “What is the best next step for X in order to quickly find the right house for her?” Stuff like that. It’s good if the spread is tailored to finding out what’s been the problem with the house hunt so far (it may or may not be related to the client, it might also be a market thing) and then explore the type of approaches that she’d benefit from and the ways in which she might need to think outside the box or be flexible. She might need to compromise in some area that she hasn’t previously thought about, things like that!

Best of luck to the both of you!

Believe it or not, I don't usually use spreads but in this case, I think one is needed.

I also think it's a good idea to formulate one together as you mentioned.

Thank you for the input!

I think it's a good idea to include a few 'alternatives' in the spread, like:

What is helping you?  What is hindering you?

What are you missing?  What do you need to know?

What mental attitude will help you? What mental attitude will hold you back?

What actions can you take that might be helpful? What actions might be detrimental?

And I always include an ADVICE card in every spread.  Gives the querent something to do.

These kinds of questions can be applied either to the overall house-hunting venture, or to a specific house.

If the question is along the lines of: "will the querent buy x house?" then I'd go with the answer spread as it's primed for yes no readings. Usually you'd use playing cards, but it works with any deck really.

If the question is more exploratory, then any of the great suggestions you've already received. 😊

There are some house related spreads in the spread index of our old tarot forum -

https://www.tarotforum.net/threads/best-threads-collection-tarot-spreads.203788/post-3705947

about halfway down this page under Moving and Relocation

I agree with @Raggydoll there, the house is the theme but you need to pinpoint exactly what is being asked here and ultimately, it sounds like a problem-solving spread. You really need to work out what the question is or what is being asked.

The most simple problem-solving spread is....

The Problem - The Cause - The Solution

if they need to take action on it....

Situation - Action - Result

I do real estate readings frequently -- but I'm not sure I understand your question.

How has someone been looking for a house for 5 years and not bought / rented anything yet?

There's something else going on here ... ???

I don't have any set spread for real estate or moving house. I use *tried & true* spreads that feel familiar and give reliable results.

That being said, I've found the historic spread *game of the Hand* is reliable and recently used it when my partner was considering to purchase a condo. I use batons as the suit for real estate; or if the issue is actually financial [i.e. loans, financing, profitability], I would use coins.

She has not purchased a house in five years, according to her, that's how long she's been looking for one. I am quite sure that there is something else going on here, but I don't know what that is?

I plan on finding out though lol.

this is why I almost always start with a general reading like CC or 7-card horseshoe. Often the question people present isn't the real question.

So IMNSHO the real estate spread would come AFTER a general spread to find out what the real question is. YMMV but this is how I work.
