Guest Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 i came across these cards <------ click on "cards" for a free ride to the Etsy site where I found them. I sorta felt the warm fuzzies that someone went to such trouble to reproduce the same deck I use...I will probably have to buy this immediately

I have the Ancient Egyptian and The Journey into Egypt. This one, even if it bears the name Egyptian seems full of symbols and very different. Really for the Tarot connoisseur. Are you well versed in Tarot and esoteric symbology, if I may ask? :D

Are you well versed in Tarot and esoteric symbology, if I may ask? :D I am always learning and this is going to be the shortest and worst description ever.. The symbols on the cards on the left are correspondences for French, Hebrew, Sankskrit, and an archeometer value. On the right for the most part a governance and rulership for the card. The minor cards use the 72 names of God, which are guardian angels in Kabalism, as their rulers. This deck uses the Kabalah rather than Astrology for divination. This deck and the Ettilia Thoth deck would be the two decks that the RWS and the Thoth decks would soon after built upon. This deck came out a few years before it was actually published as a book in 1909, giving Waite time to use it as his platform (and he watered it down), Aliester Crowley would truly reinvent it finding a way to correspond classical astrology with the kabalistic concepts. this is really a a great tool if you are attempting any magic that involves Kabalah. and exceedingly rare. I will grab this deck before he stops printing them. I have been tempted to buy Papus' book and do this print myself.
EmpyreanKnight Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I dunno if I liked the monochromatic or the colored ones better. Bookmarked it. Thanks whatsawhosit!

EmpyreanKnight Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I was dreading that the Divinatory Tarot book would be OOP or something, but I'm glad that it's currently available at a reasonable price. This deck is strangely compelling, and I really want it.
3illYazi Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I'd want the deck a little more affordable. Over $60 is a bit rich for me rn Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Over $60 is a bit rich for me rn Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro I feel you...i have to budget this out....on the other hand to get your paws on a papus deck for the early 1990's is 2-300 bucks I bet, and it is probably a pretty beat up deck. I was going to blow a couple hundred bucks on the book in French and do all of the digital art myself because that was a cheaper route than just buying a wore out deck...but that was too expensive for a book I couldn't read very well... i am glad I didn't it never occurred to me there was an english version floating around.
EmpyreanKnight Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Just a question to anyone who has The Divinatory Tarot book translated by Beryl Stockman (like 3illYazi[/member] ) . Does it also have the complete Papus Tarot images including the minors? It seems like whatsawhosit is right - the Le Tarot Divinatoire book by Papus has all of them.
EmpyreanKnight Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 It seems like only the black & white majors of the Papus Tarot is available in The Tarot of Bohemians book. Full color majors can be seen HERE, tho they don't have a high resolution.
