Hi It is very interesting. I do have to wonder, however... If we view the Sephirot as another name for the planets, as it seems it was done back then... Then Major Arcana seems to show path between 2 planets. That may be their relation or "aspects" etc. And that is always changing, obviously. However... If we at the same time, view that each Sephira shows 1 planet(or sign in some cases), won't that create contradictions in the structure we are using?I've seen the idea around not only for divination, but for any practice, if the structure has contradictions they show up in practice/thinking/emotions etc of the person.
Rose Lalonde Posted April 25, 2024 Author Posted April 25, 2024 (edited) @Deian, hi. I left hermetic Qabalah out except for a few places where it needed to be mentioned in relation to astrology, since the person I was teaching specifically wanted to learn astrology, not hermetic Qabalah, which is an entire study on its own. But to speak to your question... like some other occultists before them, the Golden Dawn Society assigned a planet or sign to each path on the Tree of Life. If you're not already familiar with them, they're shown here (great site!), but they're the same astrological signs and planets in 'Astrology Post 3: Majors Intro' above. (The sephiroth planets are listed in 'Astrology Post 5: Minors as affected by hermetic Qabalah; A VERY Short Intro'. ) The paths do connect the sephiroth, as you said. I take that into consideration for my readings. For example the path of the Empress connects the sephirah of the 2s (Chokmah) to that of the 3s (Binah). It's a card that's very suited to the idea of 'from 2 comes a third' fertility, etc. But I'm getting off course for this thread, since after the disclaimer above about there being more to the creation of the RWS and Thoth meanings than astrology alone, I tried to stay focused on the topic the student was interested in. The tldr is that it would be off topic for me to get more into hermetic Qabalah here, but there are other threads about it in this Esoteric section. I hope that helps. 🙂 Edited April 25, 2024 by Rose Lalonde
Deian Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 I see. Well, it makes sense I guess, depending on the point of view. In any case, thank you and all the best.
