Suggestions of Books At Lucky Mojo

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'll likely order a book at Lucky Mojo for divination with stones and coins, but considering the shipping I will have in addition I thougth that it could be good for me to add a few books. BUT, when I go on their website I feel completly overwelmed by informations (there is a ton!) which makes me really confused!

May I ask please? Would you suggest me some very good books in particular? I'm interested in divination of course but as well magic at times and it's more their speciality there.

I post here because I didn't know which area to choose for posting. Thank you!

Their website is hella kludgy because they have so much stuff and information. And the store is small and pretty cramped, but it’s awesome. If you’re interested in hoodoo, I know the owner recommends starting with Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic. They were out of the paperback last time I went to the store, but it’s on my list. I have three of their book - Lithomancy, The Art of Making Mojos, and Hoodoo Shrines and Altars. These books are short, about 95 pages, but detailed with information. I’m very new to a spiritual practice so I’m still dabbling a bit and finding my calling and what interests me.

I haven’t made a mojo yet and my altar is a work in progresses, more Wiccan than hoodoo, but I got some ideas from reading the book. The lithomancy is a good overview of techniques and ways of reading. The last section is Reading with Absolutely Anything.

Time and money permitting, I’ll be going back and getting more books. Hope this helps and let me know if you have questions, especially about any of the books I have.

Hello and thanks @Petalene for your answer!

Since I posted I finally decided to order them a few books with the one I wanted on Lithomancy, and they arrived yesterday, the synchronicity is funny here!

I chose some (not too much though because I'm a beginner) among their own publications and according to my interests for now. The ones that you mentioned are definitely on my wish list, thanks for that!

It is a privilege to go at their shop, you are lucky, for me as a foreigner living in the old Europe... well things like that won't be possible I'm afraid.

In some way Lucky Mojo is for years in my surroundings, I mean that here and there on forums I met people with a connection with them, which stimulated my curiosity, but no more before lately!

I registered on their forum too, it's something I always felt comfortable with, so I will learn things in relation to Hoodoo like that.

I don't feel myself Wiccan, still am on a Buddhist path but clearly have a "shamanic" side.

I got super excited when I realized it was in driving distance of LM.

Which ones did you get? I’m interested in Candle Magic and Honey Jars and Sugar Spells. But I’d love to hear your thoughts on your new books when you have a chance.

If you haven’t listened to the Lucky Mojo podcast, I enjoy it. I especially like the segment when they do tarot readings for callers. It’s helped with my understanding of the cards and different ways to interpret them. Especially with how the cards can interact together.

Have fun fun with your new books.

Just to let you know that I learnt lately that Lucky Mojo "has made a commitment to post 100 FREE hoodoo spells at the rate of 1 per week for two years. You can collect the whole set and learn a lot. These spells come from our web sites, radio shows, customer forum, and published books."

For this week the Spell is RED-HOT ROSES! a spell by Miss Phoenix LeFae.

All areas will be covered I think, while this week the focus is love and sexual magic. It can be a way to learn about Hoodoo through spells.

I just add, since there is a constant confusion about that: Hoodoo is not Vodoun (or Voodoo).

Nagasiva Yronwode posted this below lately, in order to explain it through a pic!

I’ve been looking at the weekly spells. : ) They’ve picked some interesting spellS so far. I ended up getting a couple more books right before LM closed to in person visits. They shut down a bit before shelter in place was mandatory. I’m glad I’ve had something to read and study.

Fine! I have a few books on my side too (and one or two oils)!

I would say this one is a good foundation, indeed! Likely a book to read again regularly. It has not yet been a year that I began to take an interest in Hoodoo, so it's still a very new interest for my part.

If after 3 years there is still an interest, I would say the connection could be good. So just after their weekly commitment of 100 Free Spells!

I've never gotten a bad book from them.
I have the hardcover Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic and it's bound beautifully. But the paperback will work. The information is really well researched, as always.

I’d gone in a few times and they were always sold out of the hardcover. The last time I went in, I had a feeling that a shelter in place or lockdown was coming and I bought the softcover. It’s a great book. : )

Ah ah, don't be jealous but it's the one I have too! It has a vintage vibe and the quality is there, really!
