Best crystal to store in tarot box?

Does anyone know what the best crystal would be to store with my cards in my tarot box?  I would assume a quartz would be good for cleansing, but I would love to hear other suggestions... maybe something for protection would be better(?)

Hiya,

It depends what you want the crystal to do!  I don't personally store crystals with my decks but here are a few I might consider using.  The key with using crystals (to me anyway) is seeing the intention clearly.

- clear quartz - programme it in your usual method to pretty much anything you want

- amethyst - protection of energies (but you'll want to be clear who/what you're protecting)

- rose quartz - I did this with a deck I was struggling to work with, I found the rose quartz softened the energies and helped me work with it, it needed to be shown it was loved

- black tourmaline - to ground the energies and provide some protection too

 

Basically, it all depends on what you want the crystal to do.

I appreciate your insight, makes sense that I should have a more clear intention and then choose from there.  Once I figure it out I think I have each of those crystals too but I dropped my black tourmaline... have the pieces of it in a cup somewhere.

I myself don’t store crystals in a tarot box anymore but as I did i used clear quartz or rose quartz

I don't do that, but if so I would probably choose a small Amethyst, because I like them, it's the purple I think.
There are nice Moonstones too , the Rainbow Moonstones are very nice (I have a few somewhere in a box; I'm wondering if there are small inclusions of tourmaline in them, possible).

I did for a short time, but it didn't fit in the box very well so I kind of just balanced it on top so I didn't damage the cards. I don't do it anymore, but I used quartz or black obsidian.

I've been known to do a small piece of amethyst for its usual associations with both intuition & emotional protection for decks stored in a tarot bag. Only just recently started using a box and found there's just too much room to not experiment with crystals. I'm a huge advocate for holding onto the title & info cards in decks to protect the cards, which is coming in huge handy with the tarot box. (Bottom of the box is apparently staining just a tad bit--but only affecting the deck's title card; & top of the deck is being protected from crystals by the little artist/creator info card.)

 

The crystals I'm using right now:

• clear quartz for its associations with psychic abilities, focus, and amplification
• labradorite for its association with strengthening psychic abilities
• sodalite for its associations with healing, meditation, wisdom, and rationality (gotta balance things out a bit!)
• black tourmaline for its associations with both protection and grounding

It sounds like you're focused on a potential protection intention, so the quartz & black tourmaline are great choices. Peridot would be another good choice (it's also associated with growth and reliving negative emotions, which seems right up the purposes-for-tarot alley). Depending on your personal style & preferences, angelite would be really good in intuitive readings. Emerald would also be a wonderful choice for its associations with both mental and psychic abilities, harmony, and protection. Thinking about it, any beryl, really, would probably be a good choice. 😅

 

There's so many great choices to pair with tarot, it might be better just to go for a stone you feel called to and give it a try.

I just have some that I like. A beautiful piece of labradorite my mum gave me, a small quartz that came as an extra with a very nice necklace that I took with me on a trip to a holy well and washed in the water. A larger quartz crystal that was on a wand I used to have. I think that's all...

I don't store crystals with my decks but I do place on top of the deck before each reading to clear the last reading/energy - and I typically use clear quartz

Can you place a small piece of Selenite in or around the box? Maybe a small Selenite heart?
 

A seasoned reader once told me to use Selenite when reading tarot, and it will guide you. So I would think it could make sense in or around the box, too.

I was taught by a woman who always had a piece of moonstone or iolite with her decks.  As I researched both, I encourage you to do the same, that made sense as they add to direction, intuition and ……….   Like I said, do the research and let me know if you agree.  I will say I have never regretted having them with my decks and I do charge them under the full moon every month - yes very full windowsills here!

I like the answers above of other crystals as well and…. Yes I am off to research them!

There is no best crystal out there. Only the crystal that YOU resonate with.

I use clear quartz for most of my tarot decks. However when I work with Angel tarot cards  I personally like to use celestite or angelite

Selenite is great for the intuitive senses and mind clearing. Works to magnify other crystals and clear out negative energy.

I love putting clear quartz in my bags, but also selenite since it's a universal cleanser!
