VGimlet
I'll be using the Oriens Tarot deck this week. Edmund Dulac was a pretty art deck, and more readable than most, but I was glad to move on (and I even switched a day early - I'd had enough time with Edmund.) Waiting for summer weather to start - Seattle summer doesn't generally start until after July 4 - once in awhile it's early, but mostly not. However, the fireworks ARE starting early, the last two weeks every single night and afternoon there is something. Luckily my dogs are all pretty "meh". Even the Aussie, finally. Amberjune
Thank you for the new thread @VGimlet. We've had sweltering weather with occasional thunder and rainbows. But the weekend should remain dry and I am looking forward to some hiking. This round I'll be using the Spiral Tarot by Kay Steventon and the Oracle of the Shapeshifters by Lucy Cavendish and illustrated by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. Happy week and happy eclipse ! Bodhiseed
This week I'll be using the Tarot in de Herstelde Orde (Tarot in Restored Order), created by Rob Docters van Leeuwen and Onno Docters van Leeuwen; it was published by Servire. The second deck I'll be drawing from is the Oracle of Kabbalah, a deck and book set created by Richard Seidman and published by Thomas Dunne Books. As an added resource, I'll be using The Hebrew Letters by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh. Today's draws are the Knight of Swords and Dalet: Dalet painting by Dani Antman In our world, there are people who act as philosophers (who like to investigate and discuss the truth), judges (who slice away deception so that truth is clearly seen), and knights (who defend and uphold the truth). Knights of the Sword are moved to action, especially where righting wrongs are concerned. These are the folks who risk bodily harm, loss of freedom, and insults to their character to protest and work for change. Thank goodness for their courage; their actions are often what wake others from their complacent cocoons. Dalet means 'door,' and Ginsburgh suggests it represents a sense of selflessness that comes from recognizing that none of us permanently possesses anything. The door of Dalet is the gateway to humility. Through it, we find kinship with others rather than focusing on the things that separate us. The selfless courage of this Knight, idealistic and impulsive as he might be, is based in the belief that everyone deserves a fair shake at life. Sace
Thanks for the thread @VGimlet. I will continue to use my Pagan Cats mini deck. I really have to stop reading and start actually using them! My goal is to pull and read at least one card a day. I'm not sure I'm ready for anything more than 1 card at a time. ETA- an added benefit of this deck is size. I can shuffle it in a traditional card manner, unlike most tarot decks which are a little too large for my hands. Mi-Shell
OK! I did 7 readings with the Greenwood and 2 with the Medicine Cards over the weekend..... With the Zoom thing I never quite know, how to hold up my cards, so they are in focus, but it helps, when the sitter draws her own cards from her own deck, tells me, what he or she drew and then I pull the card out of my deck and I/ we interpret...... Most of my sitters from the States are downright scarrrrrred! Today however, I again have time to continue my African American Tarot explorations. I have several books to read up on the gods, Spirits and legends:
Flaxen
Those books will certainly keep you busy @Mi-Shell. Thank you for sharing your reading here @Bodhiseed - the interpretation of Dalet was interesting. Must say that I’m enjoying the Wild Unknown Archetypes. There is a real depth to them but also reasonably easy to interpret intuitively.
Bodhiseed
@Flaxen, thank you - Ginsburgh's book has been very helpful. And in case I didn't tell you before, welcome to the DoW group!❤️ @Mi-Shell, that looks like some interesting reading; I don't know much about African mythology. Madame Squee
My exploration of the Queen Alice Tarot began with the construction of the LWB per Dame Darcy's instructions. I like it. The cards are glossier than I anticipated, but I like that, too. They feel impervious to chocolate or pizza. I actually ate lunch in front of a spread yesterday. The lively, colorful artwork holds my attention and allows my imagination to wander. In the three cards below, I see a person who tends towards emotional instability. At this time, he believes that he has been betrayed by a secret enemy. However, things are not what they appear to be, and the King of Cups is not able to see the reality of his situation. Looking for more information, I turned the deck over to reveal the Queen of Wands at the bottom. I conclude that she is the target of his grievances. My advice to the King of Cups is that he must accept things as they are and understand that retribution towards her for his distorted view of the situation will exacerbate it. Step back. Walk away. She's more clever than you, Sir.

Sace
@Bodhiseed You're welcome. I think it's a pretty Orthodox author but there might still be some useful information.
