Anyone interested in the traditional Belgian pattern of tarot will find this interesting. Tarotists unfamiliar with the Belgian pattern are in for a surprise. Several trumps retain a pre-Marseille shape also present in the Vieville tarot, but the two most odd trumps constitute a uniquely regional development: The Spanish Captain (borrowed from regional Comedia del Arte) replace The Popess. Bacchus (though also present in the Minchiate Francesi) replace The Pope.
