SO FAR (and I haven't explored much yet) probably the Rackham.  But the year is young and I need to check out what's in the pipeline <3  And it's ALL Hemera's fault for letting me know about it! ;) :D

The Crow Tarot by USGames looks really nice. But I read somewhere that the cards are large and the cardstock is thick so I don't know. I don't much care for large cards. The LoS size is just perfect.

Yes, I saw a youtube video comparing the two editions of the Crow tarot (indie/massproduced) and there was a definite difference in size. The indie version is much smaller and the mass produced one is slightly bigger than standard. I believe it might have been Kelly from The Truth in Story who did this comparison. Perhaps worth checking out? Her reviews are lengthy but they are amazing.

Ordered the Stretch Tarot, finally! I've been wanting it forever but couldn't really justify a new deck until now.

My website, if you go there, is looking unfinished right now but it's just that last time I worked on it, I was getting really tired and couldn't figure out how to add text so I stopped and will work on it more every day. (Except I slept all afternoon today.  X-D )

I've also got a new blog Saturn helped me with. I'll be posting there now instead of only on my blogger blog, although I might still post stuff there, too, sometimes.

Be sure not to give up on either the website or the blog. I'm working on a new fee schedule that will be posted on my web page and I'll be posting more about cartomancy on the blog that goes along with the website. I look forward to continuing to build both and hopefully interacting with my readers, too.

That's what I love about the Tarot. Really it's a conversation with yourself thru symbol that allows you to really uncover things within your own pysche.

This quote has gone straight into my journal - you can see it here -

Thank you that's very kind!

I shared a poem I wrote that I think you'll like. I'm greatful for places like this.

I realize that I never addressed your main question, which was about interpreting the major arcana.  Does the Devil have a heavier meaning because it is a major, and if so, what exactly?

There have been and will continue to be interesting discussions about this issue.  You will most likely develop an evolving philosophy about this and other theories of interpretation.  There is definitely a niche at TT&M for those of us who love to approach tarot from this perspective and I don't need to read the cards to see that you will be a great addition to this group.  (That's a joke - I don't read predictively.)

I personally give more weight in my readings to majors.  So what do you think, MysticMagus - does this reading show that the danger is in the past and its power therefore diminished?  Is it a warning of the continuing pervasive influence of the past?  Something else?  No special emphasis?  Any ideas?
Such good questions!
I've gained a lot of respect for the people here on this forum by their very thoughtful and insightful posts.
I would think that the major arcana have greater detail in the artwork and in their description in most books, that to the designers of the tarot, they did mean more. They were what the authors thought were the key spirtual archetypes that were the most important.
But I suppose it depends on the person doing the reading. For example, I feel a very strong connection with the queen of cups due to my interest in expressions of the divine feminine. So when that card comes up I make a bigger deal out of it.
The devil itself is a really tough one to talk about. I can see now how my own worldview colored my reading, even talking about idle activies being an addiction. That's a very gnositic and hermetic way of looking at the devil. A Christain might be think more about sin. Someone with a history of substance abuse might have a different reaction.

That's what I love about the Tarot. Really it's a conversation with yourself thru symbol that allows you to really uncover things within your own pysche.

Dear One, I have talkative Spirits who sometimes speak up during readings and elsewhere.

But here (as I'm seeing it, at least), the Devil helps with future release, too. So there's no need to feel scared of it.

All Best,
Sandy

It depends on which deck it is and which person! I have no problem allowing a sitter to handle an el cheapo copy of the RWS that belongs to me, but my more precious decks only come out for the more card savvy guests.

I'm ok with my daughter handling any of my decks because she understands that I really value and love them and isnt going to do anything stupid like have drinks near them, shuffle them roughly etc.

There is one very careful friend that I would allow to take any deck she pleased from my house and borrow it for a month or two, just because she would look after it as well as she looks after her own.

I am happy to share but only with those who are respectful of other's things.
