Tarot Decks / Re: The English Magic Tarot?
« Last post by Saturn Celeste on Today at 04:43:57 PM »
I think it's the kind of deck that tarot readers liked more than those who practiced magic but read tarot.

I like the deck but I'm never one to ask because I really like all my decks.  The colors are really different which I suppose some people didn't like that although the colors are one of the reasons that I was attracted to the deck.  I love the horses too.  I think the main reason I don't use it as much as I would like is because of the actual historical use of the deck.  I know it has to do with John Dee and old British Isles magic.  I want to learn more of the time but I just don't have the time to study British history in the Victorian era.  I do find it fascinating and still enjoy using the deck.  :)

I think @AJ-ish/Sharyn that the sort of 'hidden undertone meanings' flavor was one thing that people disliked about it but i'm not really sure why. There's apparently a puzzle written in Gaelic that's not explained anywhere, and I see why that might annoy some people but it's also a nice touch.

IDK, I'll try and look more closely at the cards/book this week and see if there's some insight to share here. :)

And yes, @Quester, the low Amazon price was startling and partly why I got it to begin with!

Then also look at the art of the card, and the 2 of those things together IMO invite intuition...Also maybe getting a vibe from the person your doing cards for, either on line and or maybe in person...<3
exactly

All this hangs on which skin you choose to use. Mine has none of these issues you describe, so....

And those of us who don't use the default would be very upset to be forced to use ANY default skin. Choice is nice. And some people have visual issues that a rigidly applied default can make impossible to handle.

Sure, the themes vary quite a bit. I studied the default theme because it's the first "page" anyone sees and would effect conversion rates. I didn't think it was necessary to critique every theme available. The only idea I have there is if they will give multiple options on the next plat, consider keeping some consistency so that the feel of the site will be the same across theme settings.

Using Tarot / Re: Tarot to the extreme

Tarot cards do not have universal values for each and everyone. Especialy "number cards" ( minor arcana).

It all depends on your intuition.

For example: today, I see(feel) 10 of Cups as a "surplus of feelings", but, tomorrow, I will see the same card as "death." These are -- ordinary number cards.....Nothung more.

Another story about Major Arcana...because MA "feels like" global archetypes>:D   8)  :rainbow:  :heartz:....somewhere at the level of the collective unconscious (or something like that). These "archetypes" are understandable for everyone. Because they are - universal.

But, what is 10 of Cups, or 7 of Swords, or 2 of Wands....and so on.....Very subjective. Very, very, very.....

imho.

(sorry for me English).

Hi! D76,

Cool that someone came by and answered, was so hoping @libra  would swing by and speak on it a bit...Good to have basic meanings down of the cards that are sort of the common thoughts on each card(from books etc)...Then also look at the art of the card, and the 2 of those things together IMO invite intuition...Also maybe getting a vibe from the person your doing cards for, either on line and or maybe in person...<3

That deck looks quite interesting ... had never heard of it before.

It is interesting AND very reasonable on Amazon.
