The Enneagram

I just found this ideology I guess you call it - and holy cow - I think I'm a 6.  Anyone using the Enneagram in their shadowork?

I took a communication class years ago where we talked about enneagrams. Apparently I'm a 5 now, which I guess makes sense being a scientist. Back then, I think I was an 8. I never felt that any of the categories fit me particularly well, though. At least the test and I agree that I am not a 2 or 3 (they were my lowest scores today).

How do you feel about being a 6? Did your scores in any other categories stand out to you?

Mine's a 4 right now, and from what I can remember  from past tests, that's always been one of my top scores, along with 2. I'm a helpful iconoclast. 🙃

How do you use the Enneagram in shadow work, @WildWoman71? Do you look at the categories that are underexpressed (mine were 9 and 7...not particularly Peacemakerly or Enthusiastic just now, apparently!) and figure out why, or look for the shadow expressions of your strongest types?

@blue_crow_laura - well one of the biggest fears of a 6 (which I soooo relate to) is security; feeling safe.  Not necessarily physically but financially, mentally etc.  It went on to say that 6's need to be really grounded.  So I found this beautiful 20 minute guided meditation - mostly chanting - which I did as well - I just tried to imitate her sound - and it was all about security and safety etc - and feeling the energy between the root chakra and the heart chakra - absolutely beautiful.  I need to do it everyday.  It is really leading me to some root fears, and some new ways of discovering myself.  I'm only a couple of days old with this path tho....lol

Yes, I"m a 7 (enthusiast) with a strong 8th wing.

It is a valuable and insightful system. I keep an eye out for low functioning red flags of my type, and

attempt to integrate the more optimal mind states and behaviors.

Enjoy.
