Welcome to the Newbie Tarot Exchange for July 2026! I am your host for this month, and this is your sign-up thread and the place to ask questions The circle is open to readers of all experience levels, with an emphasis on providing a welcoming space for those who are new to tarot, new to reading for others, or just new to working with a particular deck. If you haven't taken part in a circle before, here's how it goes: Read the guidelines before signing up below. You'll be paired with a partner, and you'll each do a reading for one another. Then you'll leave detailed feedback on the reading you received. It's a great way to practice in a friendly environment. As July brings us to the exact midpoint of the calendar, this month serves as a universal crossroad. Whether you are basking in the golden light of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, or navigating the quiet reflection of winter in the Southern Hemisphere, July invites us all to pause. It is the perfect seasonal sanctuary to review where we stand and where we are heading. Let this tarot spread illuminate your current path by balancing high-level wisdom with practical elemental energies. Together, we will look beneath the surface to ensure your mindset, strategies, and resources are beautifully aligned for the months ahead: This month's suggested spread is "The Master Lens, The Tool, and The Soil" spread by KaiNO: This spread requires a dual-layered interpretation. While the individual card imagery holds the primary answers, you must use the elemental nature of the suit to justify your conclusions. If used for a specific theme, view it as a project roadmap. If used for a general reading, view it as a snapshot of your current life phase, everyday execution style, and foundational energy. Deck Preparation & SetupBefore casting the layout, you must divide your Tarot deck into three distinct, elementally balanced piles. This specific separation forces a dynamic tension between high-level archetypes, mental/active strategies, and emotional/physical resources. Pile 1: The Master Lense (Major Arcana)Contents: Gather all 22 Major Arcana cards.Purpose: This pile holds the deep spiritual lessons, karmic forces, and overarching mindsets. Pile 2: The Tool (Wands & Swords / Fire & Air)Contents: Gather all Minor Arcana cards from the suits of Wands and Swords (including their respective Court cards).Purpose: This pile represents active movement. It combines the spark of passion and drive (Fire/Wands) with the sharp logic and strategy of the mind (Air/Swords).Pile 3: The Soil (Cups & Pentacles / Water & Earth)Contents: Gather all Minor Arcana cards from the suits of Cups and Pentacles/Disks (including their respective Court cards).Purpose: This pile represents your grounding forces. It combines emotional depth and intuition (Water/Cups) with tangible resources, health, and stability (Earth/Pentacles).How to Draw: Shuffle each pile individually. Focus on your query (or a general check-in), and draw exactly one card from Pile 1 for position one, one card from Pile 2 for position two, and one card from Pile 3 for position three. The Spread Layout——-1——2——3— Card 1 (From Pile 1 - Major Arcana): The Master Lens 👁️ This card dictates the overarching perspective, mindset, or philosophical approach you should adopt right now. It represents the master archetype ruling your current situation or life phase. Card 2 (From Pile 2 - Wands or Swords): The Tool 🛠️ - Interpret the specific meaning and imagery of this card as your primary action style or daily strategy.- Then, dig deeper into the suit itself (Wands or Swords): Justify why this specific approach is dominant by explaining how the suit's elemental nature (Fire/Air) drives and shapes this card's energy.Card 3 (From Pile 3 - Cups or Pentacles): The Soil 🌱 - Interpret the specific meaning and imagery of this card as your current environment or foundational support system.- Then, dig deeper into the suit itself (Cups or Pentacles): Justify why these surroundings are your current reality by explaining how the suit's elemental nature (Water/Earth) supports and grounds this card's message. It must be a tarot deck -- no oracles, cartomancy, lenormands or kippers.Feedback should be as detailed as the reading you received. If you don't understand something your partner said, you're encouraged to ask them a friendly question; this is very much a learning circle! As a reader, if you'd like a focus, feel free to ask your partner to give you an area of their life to read about (work, family, etc.). There's a spread of the month, but if you and your partner agree, you can use an alternate spread of similar complexity and around the same amount of cards. Please make sure all your previous circle obligations are complete, that is readings and feedback, before signing up this month. If it becomes necessary, circle hosts reserve the right to temporarily ban participants from the circle. If you get stuck doing your reading, you are welcome to look up any meanings that help you. Why not discuss any issues with your partner in the thread? They might be able to provide you with some advice or a different idea on the cards. Please don't post in other people's reading threads. Please be polite and encouraging to your partners. Some folks are probably just starting on their learning curve, especially here in Newbies, and your words could make or break their journey in Tarot.
