Seasons of the Witch Yule Oracle - I regret paying money for this.

I don't normally indulge in "oracle decks."  I understand there is a broad range of these types of decks, and some are just happy platitudes while others are food for thought, and some may be comprehensive, workable, and useful.

Lately I've been watching Tarot folks on youtube, and many of them also show oracle decks.  I saw this one, the Yule Oracle, and it was visually appealing to me and I thought maybe a card a day would help me get in the spirit of the winter holiday season.  Even if I didn't use it for anything serious, a nice winter picture along with a thought provoking blurb to display in my living room every day? Sounds great!  This deck is 44 cards full of nice multi-ethnicity people who are both young and old, there are also animals, snowy forests, cozy holiday decorated homes (everything is quite Christmas themed, despite it being Seasons of the Witch.  I expected a little more paganism.) I do like the art and the scenes on the cards.

 

My problem is with the text.  The blurbs at the bottom of the cards.  Most of it is straight garbage, it makes no sense.  It's like someone got drunk and had to finish it in a hurry.  And maybe they got paid extra for each "thy" they included because there is a LOT of THY.  There is no thee, thou, thine, or any other form of thy.  Thy is used incorrectly in many cases, and when it can't be made to fit, the text reverts back to plain modern "you" even within the same sentence.  It's awful and I regret having this.  See the pictures for some examples of the pretty pictures and terrible text

@katrinka I think cutting off the words would be the most gracious thing I could do for these cards.  Alternatively, I also would consider stringing them on a garland so I could see the pictures but not really read the tiny text.  It would make a nice decoration.  Rockpool Publishing should be ashamed of thyselves.

Wow, that, wow.  I don't even know what to say to thy. 🤯 
Hopefully you'll save someone else from buying by posting, but I'm sorry that indulgence turned out to be terrible.

Although this deck is disappointing and the overuse of thy's in the awful text, thanks for your review @Aeona, it made me smile 🙂

Even I, who has English as my second language and who was not taught any “thy/thine/thee” and whatnot in school, can still see that it doesn’t look like proper English 😅 I feel bad for you @Aeona, but I do think the creative suggestions involving scissors and garlands are very promising. If you go ahead, promise to give us an after-shot!!

I certainly will post For thy if I decide to make a project of it before the end of the month!  I won't have the opportunity this week though, sadly I'll be too busy, and staying at a friend's house to dog-sit thy dog.

Oh dear me 🙄 Thank you, Aeona, for posting this. This deck has been in and out of my "wish list" on Amazon since its release. It's now permanently out! Forever. Good grief, what were they thinking?
