Newpath Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I am looking at purchasing my first incense burner with incense. I’m a bit confused as to the different types. Do they all have different purposes? e.g. a certain type for attracting money. Or do they all do the same thing just with a different scent?
and_it_spoke Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 The scents themselves are often said to have different purposes (love, money, etc.) - but as far as actual burners, not so much. So are you talking an actual brazier, and are trying to limit it to an origin/design? Or is this more basic - like a stick incense holder vs. cone burner?
Newpath Posted January 10, 2022 Author Posted January 10, 2022 I’ve seen the stick and cones. Is there a difference? The original question was regarding the difference in the incense itself.

But here's a fairly comprehensive list of scents and their 'meanings' I found out there.

Really liking the look of frankincense!
bastetly Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I only buy Japanese incense as it burns clean and isn't thick and cloying. Pine and Plum Blossem sticks (no wood). I know how popular Nag Champa is, but it always gives me a terrible headache.
Little Fang Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I also adore Japanese incense! Doesn't put off a lot of smoke since it doesn't have a stick in the middle, smells amazing, and you can snap the sticks into smaller amounts for shorter sessions. Morning Star is a great brand.
