jaygon Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) I’m hoping to eventually secure a copy of this OOP deck. After a little research, it would appear that there are many versions https://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=171379 This thread had made my head spin somewhat! Is there a standard version which has been reproduced, albeit OOP? Which version did Grimaud (1997) reproduce? Edited January 31, 2022 by jaygon
katrinka Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) This is the Grimaud/France Cartes version. None of the other patterns have been in print in our own lifetimes, that I'm aware of. The cards are somewhat oversized, but they're very nice. This one follows the same pattern as the Grimaud. And the backgrounds are white rather than yellowish. I tend to use it more, since it's smaller. But both are wonderful. It was available here, in the original bridge size. I don't see it now - @tag Jorrit, are there any plans to reprint? https://thecartomancer.bigcartel.com/ Those are the only two reproductions that I'm aware of. Edited January 31, 2022 by katrinka
jaygon Posted January 31, 2022 Author Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) Thank you Katrinka, I do hope to track a copy of this beautiful deck. That second listing looks more promising (though currently unavailable) than the Grimaud edition which appears to be rather rare at this stage. It is good to know that both versions are the same pattern. I wonder if this pattern is a facsimile reproduction of the earliest pattern/deck or one of the (very many) later variants? I suppose if I do track a copy, I can consult the various scans of the historical variants online. My two Etteilla decks have just arrived and I am delighted that the first deck seems to be a facsimile of the Jeu de la Princesse Tarot : https://tarotgarden.com/tarot-egyptiens/ This second deck seems to be the same deck but altered : https://tarotgarden.com/esoteric-ancient-tarots/ Edited January 31, 2022 by jaygon
BrightEye Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Is anyone up for studying the Petit Oracle des Dames together?
