Helping new members / reading requests

Featured Replies

Could I get some clarification on helping new members? Sometimes people are advised to offer their own interpretation, and sometimes are provided with detailed interpretation even though having attempted little of their own. I seem to get it wrong quite a lot, and either feel unkind for not offering more to a new member, or break the 'no free readings' rule and the thread gets locked. What am I looking for here?

Readings and Exchanges have to go in the correct areas for them and when people join the forum, they don't have access to those areas for a while.

So often people join and post their readings in random areas and don't interpret them or anything. So they are locked until they get the posts and if they follow the rules, we move the readings into the correct areas.

The reason we are strict with this is that it's easy for a community to be deluged by people posting to get free readings. This is a learning community with structure to make everything go smoothly. This happens especially with people joining, posting and then dashing off. So it's to stop this activity.

Some people don't interpret the reading, another rule of posting a reading. So it's best to leave it until we get an interpretation from them.

So if you want to reply, check it's in the right area (this is almost always like 90% in the Personal Tarot Readings section) and check there is an interpretation. If there isn't, just wait to a moderator sees it and also you are welcome to report posts which don't meet the rules.

Please don't feel unkind or you made a mistake 🙂

I think one issue is that people simply want to post - to be helpful or just to say their piece because they see something blindingly obvious in the cards (I know; I've done that :classic_blush:) - and forget that they shouldn't unless the member has given their own take on every card.

I do also note the increasing number of "first posts" posted in some random area asking for a take from new members who are clearly just after a free reading, as Daniel says.. I've taken to reporting - and posting that this isn't a free reading site while I wait....
