Life Paths - confused on how to work it out

I've heard life paths mentioned over the years and I was previously told I was an 8. I did an online numerology 'reading' last week (well, I started it, but then it was a rabbit hole with page after page and I had no idea how far into it I was, so I gave up due to lack of time) and it said I was an 8. Today I was talking to someone about energy and she told me I was a life path 1, and that it's a 12 year cycle and things are changing due to Jupiter and Saturn colliding last December... anyway, I realised afterwards, that she said life path 1 and I thought I was an 8. So I've googled, and it seem the 'only' way that I can see to calculate a life path is adding up full DOB, which has me at an 8. Am I doing something wrong (plausible)? I'm curious now if maybe I am a 1 and not an 8, or maybe this person just made a mistake, or maybe there are more ways to calculate that I'm not aware of? From the way she was talking it seems like maybe she only added up my day of birth (10th). This is just a curiosity thing, and I don't want to look into what it means for me a a life path 8 (or 1) if I'm actually the other.

Yeah, you add all the numbers. Like if someone was born on the 7 of January 1935 they would be

1+9+3+5+7+1= 26 = 2+6 = 8

I've moved this thread to the Spirtuality section, there are other numerology threads here from the past and it doesn't really fit too well in the astrology section 😃

Related to this discussion, you can take your life path and then work our your tarot birth card, thread here -

And also your tarot card for the year.....

We'll keep the tarot discussions in those threads but just wanted to link them here

Thanks, that was how I did it. And I'm an 8. So I guess they were a bit mixed up and what they said may not be at all relevant.

Thanks for moving it! That's where I mean to to post it.. It's been "one of those days" lol.

The birth cards seem interesting. I think I did that a few weeks ago, in a way, but the thread I found (may or may not have been from this forum) used the standard playing card deck. I'll have  look at both of those, thanks for the links 🙂

I've also read you do your month and birthdate without without the year. So 7th of January is 8.

Is it a coincidence it's the same number?  If so, great news for people who don't like maths 🤣

You could always ask that person how they did the math? That’s typically the best way of putting those things to rest. Especially if you paid them for the consultation. Maybe they have their very own method. If they simply were incorrect, then maybe start being more selective with the people you consult? This is a business where sadly many professional readers/psychics are not all we would hope them to be.

Indeed, it fits well! Did they mention a strong dislike of social media? Surely it’s a life path 9 thing!

That’s how I’ve always done it too. I’ve also seen it calculated this way:

1935 + 7 + 1 = 1943 = 1+9+4+3 = 17

This can then be reduced again to 8 so you have a path that has The Star and Strength (or Justice depending on what deck you use).

For my own life path one way gives me 21, the other way gives me 3.

That’s a very powerful combo! I’m not surprised 😉

Gosh if I do that, I'm a 2... having enough trouble knowing if I'm an 8 or a 1 lol.

I'm going with 8. That's what I thought I was, that's what I'm calculating now, and it's what the online numerology site said I was lol.

I've sent them a message, but no reply yet. And yeah it was paid, I was asking about my energy (follow on from last night's post lol). I've used this person before, and she was good. My neighbour has been seeing her for years and swears by her. She also spoke of someone else I know, and gave me a different number for them too. She seems to only add the numbers of the birth day, and not month or year. I could have sworn last time she was the one who told me I was an 8... So I'm not sure if she was off with this, or has a different method. I'll have to go back to the old recording I have from a few years ago and see if she said a number for me then.

I get 8. In my deck Strength is 8 🙂 How does The Star link into it? This is all very new to me.

The first number you get after adding all the dates, if it’s 22 or below you can link it to one of the majors. Star is number 17. But you could also reduce it further: 1+7 = 8 and get strength/justice (certain decks has strength as 8, but the older decks have justice as 8).

And just to clarify, because it won't let me edit my original post, it was the conjuncture of Saturn and Jupiter in Dec 2020. They didn't 'collide' obviously lol 🤣 That was me trying to take notes without missing things as she spoke.

I checked the 1+9+3+5+7+1= 26 = 2+6 = 8 method and the 1935 + 7 + 1 = 1943 = 1+9+4+3 = 17 method and both give me an 8! So that seems to make me a pretty solid 8.

Ahhhh cool. So I get 26, which leads me to 8. So in that case, it wouldn't be star for me, right?

Yeah but also look at the first number (26 in the first example and 17 in the second). If it’s 22 or lower then you technically need not reduce it further because it matches a major arcana card. Some people stick to the upper number card and others consider both cards, like in Flaxens example

Exactly. There are no majors numbered that high so you’d keep reducing it to 8

Thanks for explaining! I get 26, and 2006 🙂
