Show some forums for lurkers

Featured Replies

Hi Little Fang. I'd seen one or two comments by folks over at AT about not being able to browse through forums here unless you were registered, and not bothering to register because of that. I think it might be really good if we could enable that for some of the forums for un-registered users. That ability to be able to browse through many of the learning forums in a read-only mode is one of the reasons I ended up registering, and later subscribing to AT. So, two-fold, it allows a person to be able to come in and learn a bit, maybe find an answer ... but it also can draw in new users because they can see what we're doing here and how friendly we are and stuff.

I'm thinking maybe just the Tarot section, since that is kind of our main focus. And, like I said, probably just allow read-only without registering.

I've been thinking on and off about that, though I gotta go and edit some permissions since I have guest posting enabled for the support forum.  I'm sure there is a way I can adjust something and I'll go poke around.  Thanks for your input!

Edit: There!  I made the learning areas of the Tarot section readable by guests with no posting/replies.  I still have the Tarot Readings hidden, since that seems more personal.  Wasn't hard at all.

Aw, shoot. I actually chose this forum specifically because you require a log in to read the boards. But I'm probably in the minority... And I'm all settled in now regardless. :)

Hey Rose!

I hope it's some consolation that any areas that are mostly full of personal things, such as chatter and readings, are still hidden.  Anything that is learning enabled is showing, but if that turns out to be a huge problem we can all work something out. :)  Try logging out and see if it looks good.

Hi Rose Lalonde and wray. I hope this doesn't drive you off, I didn't think of the fact that the extra level of privacy was so desirable. I can certainly understand what you mean though. My thought was how a couple of folks had already been put off by not being able to see things. Also, it had made me think that, when I first found the AT Forums, I was able to look through the basic Tarot forums and find some answers I was looking for at the time.

I'm sure that Little Fang won't mind readdressing this after we give it a little time and see how it works. Be sure to let her know if you see any issues.

Thanks Trogon. I did see a comment about someone not wanting to sign up without seeing first, but to me it was what made this place stand out from the others. Still, as wray said, little fang needs to do what seems best and has clearly worked hard to offer us features and support this week. With reading areas still private maybe it's a sign that I should do more readings and less talking. ;)

I greatly appreciate the support, comments, compliments, and suggestions!  :-*

I want this place to be as comfortable as possible for everyone, so input is important to the growth of this place.

If there is any particular forum section you feel should best be hidden, please let me know!
