Decks for Love/Relationship Readings

Featured Replies

We all know that love readings will be always here to stay. I daresay that they have been performed during the very first times that the cards were used to divine human fortunes, and I have a feeling that as long as there are readers they will never go away. And - ahem - can anybody here say with absolute honesty that they have never used the cards to peek into their amatory prospects? ;)

And now I'm curious. What decks do you personally use for relationship readings? Which ones have proven themselves very receptive to these kinds of questions, or at least provided an apt atmosphere for them? I don't even browse love spreads, but something about the chill, romantic air of February makes me want to explore reading with these. :)

For me, the Fantastic Menagerie works really well for love / relationship readings; it's not just the general atmosphere, but also the fact that many of the cards have scenes with several persons (in this case, animals).

I avoid love readings of the 'what does x really think of me?' - although I understand that it is a huge focus for many people.

The Heart Tarot is lovely for relationship readings. Also, Tarot of the Sweet Twilight for those who may be in a bit of an 'angsty' frame of mind. '

Eros Oracle. I know, I know. :D But it does also provide precise psychological and situational pointers.

The Lovers Tarot

I avoid love readings of the 'what does x really think of me?' - although I understand that it is a huge focus for many people.

I don't do that sort of thing either - but I'm constantly rewording questions anyway. People tend to ask yes/no questions, which I then turn into 'How can I....' etc.

I'm very much of the constructive school of reading, rather than the predictive. ;)

Another one that works well for relationships: Arcus Arcanum.

(Oop in English I think, but still widely available in German)

And good old RWS too, really.

Like Flaxen I do not do readings about who likes who and why or why not, then again I am older than dirt so the majority of the people I know are married and have been for a long time so I have done readings about relationship issues in marriage.  My go to deck for these readings is the Victorian Romantic Gold.

I performed a deck interview with the TdM by Packard yesterday, and with the preponderance of Cups and with the Deux de Coupes as its strength, I think that it is very open to love readings. I did promise myself that I'd only use the Marseille once I really delve into its system since the deck commanded utter focus and seriousness, so let's see.
