I'm trying to develop clairaudience but I don't know where to start. Does anyone have any tips?

I moved this to the Spirituality section where it fits better as a topic.

Here is an old thread in this area which might give you some help on the subject 😀

1. Meditation is a good start for all clairs. Do chakra clearing meditations so that you're focused on something to begin with. By that I mean clean up your chakras because they are linked to etheric body where a lot of events get "lodged" or "stuck" and that can interfere with the message. The focus on the breath also helps clear out chatter and lets messages come through.

Why is that necessary? Because you're acting like an electrical transformer for higher frequencies to get through in this process. Consider this meditation process as cleaning off the rust that can build on the contacts where your battery goes in electrical devices. Once that's done, the electricity can flow.

2. Get to know your guides. You'll have guardian angels, spirit guides and ancestral guides among others at different times in your life. Each has a purpose.  Go through a visualisation process in meditation where you meet these guides and they tell you what they're there to help you with. For example, among my guides I have an education guide - he's of Arabic origins.  What happens is that you'll get to know how to work with the guides/messages - set the framework for how you'll work together. How do you switch on and off? What part of your body is activated so that you can differentiate between hopes/fears and actual guidance?

When you get to know your guides you can then ask them to help you with what you're doing - but most importantly you must involve your guardian angels when doing work with your clairs. They can help to direct the flow of communication and keep 'undesirables' out.

3. Be Creative in whatever form that takes. I had a box of things, paints, clay, paper, collected items like feathers or bits and pieces I found. I would wait for inspiration and then go to whatever I was guided to work on.

Just some ideas to start with.

I haven't done much research on spirits or guardian angels, but aren't angels abrahamic? I could be wrong, I was just wondering. I'll probably do more research on it tonight :3

Don't get too caught up on naming or origins etc that someone else created. They're probably good as a guiding concept, i.e. such a sort of thing exists, but they're someone else's (outdated) ideas or experiences, not yours.

Your team of personal spirit helpers are your own, so build your own knowledge base about them by sitting with them.

I agree with this

@Eliott_ I am Norse and I do not think in terms of angels, chakras or 'third eye'. I think those terms are often used on forums because a lot of people have heard of them and so it becomes easier to have a discussion about it. But it is not necessary to believe in angels or to have an interest in chakras in order to develop psychic skills. I have done quite a lot of psychic work over the years and I have developed my innate abilities. Clairaudience is not a big part of that, it is not my strongest ability. I will at times get input that way, but for me, I have other 'channels' that are even more effective. It is those senses that I have been working the most with, in order to play to my natural strengths.

I think it is important to figure out which type of abilities that comes naturally to you. Not everyone can develop a strong clairaudience - some will be more visual or have another dominant sense. This is perfectly normal and actually a good thing. Everyone is unique 🙂. If you know that you are prone to receiving input through clairaudience, then I agree that it is a good thing to try and strengthen this ability. The first step is to be more attentive and to trust your abilities. Speaking out loud can help build confidence. It is also important to practice often. Once you have been doing that, you can take it a step further and do specific exercises. I am sure there are a lot of books out there, and it will also depend on your personality as well as your spiritual path. Everything that I do is personal to me and reflects my practice which is very tied to ancestral veneration and Norse/Swedish folk magic (I am a hereditary practitioner and I tend to not resonate with neopagan Norse heathenry, so contemporary witchy books are not something I have found very useful to me personally. That is why I can´t give any specific book recommendations).

One last thing to mention though, is that I think it is important to evaluate your input. Do make sure to assess whether the information you receive is on point and reflects the truth. Accuracy can get better over time if you practice often and evaluate thoroughly.

Best of luck!

Honestly, I thought we all "heard" voices in our head pretty much all the time.  But of course distinguishing "divine" from "regular" voices can be a slippery slope, especially in a negative context, which implies there is a continuum.  This NIH article about "hearing" voices was interesting in that regard.

I learned from the look on someone's face to differentiate it by calling it "internal dialogue."

It was during a conversation and I said "you know - that voice in your head". The look on their face! Ha ha!

They thought I had issues, but what I meant was that self-talk or mentation "I wish I didn't say that" "I'm not doing that" "I'm not good enough" to all those social situations and judgements "What is that bitch on about?" "Look at what she's wearing" "They're so stupid" "I hate his guts".

The still, small voice is the one we need to connect with - it isn't necessarily someone else's voice. It's generally calm and peaceful and matter-of-fact.

"Angels" exist in many different cultures in many different forms.

You could listen/find your own...   🪷
