When are you MOST in your element?

Recommended Posts

I've swiped this question from the lovely greatdane, who posted this on ATF.

I'll start...

I don't have a green thumb but I feel most connected to nature when I'm around the dirt and the trees, flowers, and plants. (My element is definitely earth.)

So...when are you most in your element?

For me it's when I'm among the trees, the older and more gnarled the better. I swear they emanate power and wisdom. I always feel protected and grounded around old trees, especially ancient redwoods and oaks.

Edit: Not the most obvious choice for an Air person but the grounding and clarity stops me floating away :D A good, howling wind provides the icing on the cake.

I'm an Earth element. I feel most connected in the nature. I am even the type to believe that messages can be sent to us through the animals or whatever we see outside. I feel my most protected and grounded around the trees, so I prefer to hang around the parks or forests most of the time. I also find lakes to be very calming for the most part too. And I love the sound of birds chirping outside, especially in the early spring or summer.

I'm a really Earthy person, but surprisingly I feel best near water. The sound of water in general feels really good to me, whether it's a light or heavy rain, water flowing in a calm river or from high falls, etc. I also love to LOOK at water and waves and search for polished rocks on the shore. That kind of stuff.

I guess I need that water to balance out my overflow of 'earthness'!

This! ;D (It's one of the bigger reasons I moved to Northern Arizona after I got out of the Navy.)

But, I will add this to the discussion; I feel super connected to ... things ... when I can sit and be quiet and uninterrupted at any of the old Native American "ruins" around the area. There is one that I hope to visit again after I'm in better physical condition to get to it. It is at the top of an ancient volcanic cinder cone east of town. It take a fair bit of effort to get to and has been left pretty much untouched. I haven't seen much in the way of pottery, so I suspect that pot-hunters have taken most of that away, but the spiritual presence there is incredible. I've been up there a few times and ... well, I can't adequately describe how it feels to me. The spirits there have allowed me (and yes, I asked) to take a few small bits away with me (broken obsidian flakes, things like that). Just touching them can partially bring me back there.

I suspect I have a strong affinity to the element of Air ...

ETA; ... I just realized. I'm drawn to birds. I have a Eagle/Owl Spirit Guide. "Air" ... duh!

I am Air with a Rising sign and a stellum in Fire. I ended up in Southern New Mexico near the White Sands and about a hundred yards from the foothills of the 8,000 foot Sierra Blancas. A person can really 'stretch the eye' with views in all directions. When the wind is blowing warm and dry and it's not too hot, not too cold-I feel like I am in the right combination of elements for me at this time in my life.

Im a Sag(fire), my moon is in Gemini (Air) ,and my rising is Pisces(water)....(and i was born on a fullmoon too..lol)

Anywho,  I love mountains and ocean(energy)....and a windy day !!!! I also love to look at fire burning in fireplaces...(with a cat on my lap ;) I guess with the dual signs there, I kind of adapt easy..?

Not sure if that's what your asking, but there it is....:)

I love looking at mountains, but also being up on top of a mountain looking out (but there has to be water too)...

I'm an earth sign but I feel more comfortable near the sea. I guess it's because I was raised on the coast. I love going alone on the beach when there's very few people and just sit there, looking at the water, smelling it, listening to the sound of the waves. Also I'm from the south of France where we can see both the sea and the mountain at the same time. Very beautiful :)

And of course i also looove to stay at home in a comfy room with encens, a tea and a good book, or a nice tarot deck ;)

I'm a fire sign but I think my true element is water. I feel most at peace when I'm swimming or surrounded by water in some way. I also find rain very peaceful to listen to and don't mind being out in it as long as it isn't pouring or storming xD

Do you know what your rising sign is FoolishEevee? Maybe you need water to 'quiet' the fire :)

I'm an earth sign but have water signs for both rising and moon. My absolute ideal is a forest/woodland but with a water source nearby. It can be a small stream or a large lake- doesn't matter too much. However, I love curling up by a real fire - I find the flames quite mesmerising and love the feel of warm sun on my skin. Hate it when it gets too hot though! The changeable UK climate suits me.

Moon and Rising are both Capricorn :o I think that's an earth sign?

So, after reading everyone's replies, I thought I'd check on my "sign". I was born in August and am a Leo ... which is apparently associated with the element of Fire. I do love a good camp fire and am very comfortable around them (and very good at starting them ;)). But as I mentioned before, I'm very at home with the element of Air. But then, I guess that Air element will stoke up that Fire element and support the combustion!

However, em recently did a Four Pillars reading for me that showed that my element is Water. And, I can accept that as well. Especially when I've been stressed or uptight, standing in the rain, or putting my feet in a creek, or even just standing in the shower definitely has a calming affect for me.

I'm apparently unable to settle down to just one element. ;D

I'm most in my element whenever it rains.

A Chinese astrologer told me that I have so much water in my charts, that I can either channel it to great use and accomplish great things like a rushing river to a dam, or spread myself out so much that I eventually become aimless and lost. He also told me that my personal sign (which is different from my yearly zodiac) is the Bai Long, or the Black Water Dragon that rules the storms and typhoons, and that's why I shall always be very lucky whenever it rains.

Methinks I should move to England or Seattle soon. Manila is just so interminably sunny (mostly) lol.

I'm an Air sign (Aquarius), so I live a lot in my head. But there are always two sides to a coin, and my other side is most definitely Earth. I feel at ease when writing and learning, but I feel grounded and centered when I take my daily walks in green spaces.

I'm a virgo sun, cancer moon, libra rising with leo dominant in my birth chart, I think astrology is fun!

I think I'm most in my element when I sit down by my desk, put on some music and get lost in drawing/doodling. But this could also be a good question to ask a tarot deck since I'm kind of scatterbrained and don't always pay attention to everything.

My Sun sign is Taurus and I am very earthy and love being in nature (and quiet empty places, crowds and buildings are the worst for me). Recently I have found out I am hugely water based and very influenced by Neptune in my birth chart and I have always been attracted to the coast and places with water.

Apart from the nature and countryside part, I think any place where people have no judgement and open minded is where I fit in, in circles. I tend to be in diverse mixes of people who are perhaps seen as nerdy or weird or outcast from society. I don't like having to conform or hide all the interesting parts of myself just to be in a group that accepts me  ;D

I'm Aries, with Virgo Moon and Rising. I'm generally a very fire-y sort of person, I get annoyed/frustrated easily and am generally an all-out stereotypical Aries child, the good and the bad.

But I'm most in my element when I'm by the sea. I cannot visualize living more than a short drive away from the coastline, the idea of being landlocked completely freaks me out. I think I need the water to cool me down and settle me, because I tend to keep stoking and feeding my inner fire until it consumes me if I don't.

My sun Capeicorn, Moon Capricorn, rising Aquarius and MC Scorpio. Most of the time I'm more in tune when I'm not thinking nor doing anything where I can let my mediumship kick in and let the spirits either chatter away or pass me by and I pick up on them empathy

Come to Vancouver! (^∇^❀) We have months where it's interminably rainy haha. (But that's partially because we rarely get any snow...)

I'm most in my element once night falls. There are so many reasons I can think of why I prefer it to the day and am naturally a night owl as a result--the general quiet that sets while most everyone else is asleep, the calm contented feeling that sits in the air, the kiss of sweet night on your cheek... the inspiration that seems to swirl and flow more freely in the air when there's less busyness to bother it... So. Many. Reasons! (⁄ ⁄>⁄ω⁄<⁄ ⁄❀) I could wax poetic about it for ages.

But at the same time, I want to say I'm most in my element whenever I'm able to just be--night might just be what brings it out most easily. I've gotten similar feelings of contentment and oneness from being around fire, from gusts and gentle breezes, from pounding rain and gentle showers, from lying on the grass or tending plants, from the energy that crackles during a thunderstorm, from gazing out at ice or falling snow. From listening to music that makes you float out of the now for even a moment. From that inspiration that strikes and a story or other creation just comes spilling out. From that sweetness that scents the air when you just feel perfectly at peace. When I'm able to make that connection to everything is when I'm in my element most. Like I already wrote, maybe it's just that night brings it on the most.

I'm Cancer Sun, Virgo Moon and Scorpio Ascendant, since others have posted theirs. ^^
