Saturn Celeste Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Our outdoor ‘momma’ cat (now spade) has disappeared. She’s been missing for three days and my son said he noticed before she went missing, she had something wrong with her mouth. He made a note to check it in the morning when he fed her and could get close to her. She was missing the following morning. The purpose of this thread is to please tell me what belief systems, lore, myths; anything that can help me rationalize how to deal with the loss. This is different from death, it is the unknowing that is consuming me at the moment. Tomorrow morning I will do a reading for her. I am open to all religions and spiritual beliefs.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 I don't have any help other than many shared experiences. I lost a 2 month old kitten last summer and I am still grieving. I consider myself a tough bitch, so makes me wonder if I have some kind of hole in my brain, leaking away my tough. (((cat and you)))
DanielJUK Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 oh Saturn, hugs friend and love to all your family <3 First of all if you don't mind me saying, don't give up hope! I am on a very busy and popular community site for my West London local area and people post about missing and lost pets at least 3 times a week! It's always so upsetting! I would say about 9 out of 10 (the majority) do come home or are found! Sometimes it takes days or weeks! So keep the faith first of all and have you done a campaign with trying to find her with notes on trees, that sort of thing? If you have local community sites / forums online, post a pic of the cat with details, my area group is on Facebook and has a good success rate that someone will see them! Check any closed / locked out buildings. We used to have a cat who was trapped in the garage a lot! Ask your neighbours as well to look out in them. Make sure your local vets / animal rescues know! People take animals there (especially ones that look sick) a lot! Secondly I would say, only do the tarot reading if you are ready and prepared emotionally for what it says. I am a bit funny personally about that kind of readings in my own life, I have to weigh it up carefully before personal sickness / death / missing type readings but if it gives you comfort do it! Thirdly, why not do a little missing pet spell or intention. Do you have a toy or something you associate with the cat? Take it in a garden or yard or somewhere nearby to a tree (or rock or anything naturey), you could also use catfood in the bowl you normally serve it in. Maybe light a candle with the personal thing you associate with the cat and the nature (tree). A green candle would be good for this. Perhaps make an intention, I found this on a website but change it how you like.... My little (name of cat) and gone astray I wish for his/her return today Keep him/her safe from harm But return her/him now back into my arms! You can change it to anything you want but set an intention and see if they come back. Also either using this thread or start a thread in the prayer area, get people's good energy / prayers! On AT those group support threads were amazing, all kinds of amazing things happened with people supporting others! Just some ideas and thinking of you <3

Cobweb Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Oh, Saturn Celeste, I am sorry! I know from experience how much it hurts when a cat just disappears. The anxiety is worse because you just don’t know what happened. Seriously, if you can, do try posters and local vets and getting the news into the local community. I’m struggling to post a link but if you google “cats protection lost cats”, you should find a page of advice from The Cats Protection - an excellent UK charity! Sometimes cats do turn up again - and in my personal experience, at least I ended up finding out what had happened to my cat, although it was not good news. I’m not sure I have much spiritual advice but I am praying, if that is of any comfort to you. If you believe or work with saints at all, today is the feast of St Anthony of Padua who is the patron saint of lost things.
Bodhiseed Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 May you be well. May you find comfort and ease. I do various takes on loving-kindness meditation for people, but as far as I'm concerned, animals are just furry beings with bigger hearts who deserve the same. I too have had animals disappear, and it is agonizing. Gentle hugs to you and your family. <3

You can change it to anything you want but set an intention and see if they come back. Just some ideas and thinking of you <3 Daniel, you have some heartfelt suggestions and I thank you for them! I live in Florida and am near 2 major roads. Traffic here is atrocious. I found out today my son actually does not want to go in search of her because he is frightened to find her body. I don't believe in outside cats here because the heat, bugs, dogs and traffic are brutal on cats but we tried her in the house and she would not train to the litter box but she's lived outside her entire life (4 years). Her 2 remaining daughters are still outside, they are too feral to come to us on a regular basis. We've had them all spade and knew the consequences of allowing them to stay in their surroundings. But I want you all to know we have her babies. We took in her entire last littler and we have 2 from her original littler. The 2 cats outside are from her middle litter. This is why we have 12 cats in the house, 7 are from Momma. So Daniel, I will hold off a couple more days to do a reading BUT when I am down during the day I'll hold one of her kittens (the 5 are around 8 months old) and repeat your incantation. What a comforting suggestion, thank you for your kindness, I appreciate it. Love to you all. Sending prayers. <3 <3 Thank you Shivanni! Freya, Odin, Weebly, Wobbly, Wadley, Snowy, Xena [boots and Socks] all appreciate your prayers! Oh, Saturn Celeste, I am sorry! I know from experience how much it hurts when a cat just disappears. If you believe or work with saints at all, today is the feast of St Anthony of Padua who is the patron saint of lost things. Thank you Cobweb! We have some neighbors to talk to but that is about all we have in this area. I'm also disabled and don't drive so getting out is not easy for me. But we'll put the word out to the neighbors! The take on St Anthony of Padua is fascinating. I have some saints books and will take a look through them for this saint and honor him today. May you be well. May you find comfort and ease. I do various takes on loving-kindness meditation for people, but as far as I'm concerned, animals are just furry beings with bigger hearts who deserve the same. I too have had animals disappear, and it is agonizing. Gentle hugs to you and your family. <3 Thank you Bodhiseed! I love animals and they've always been a part of my life, even as a truck driver we had a bowl of hermit carbs we took in the truck with us. I can't tell you the reactions of fellow truckers when I'd tell them I had to stop to water my crabs! Few followed me into the truck stops! lol We stopped having hermit crabs when we realized they can't reproduce out of the ocean so by owning them we were encouraging the demise of their population. I can't begin to tell anyone of the joy of having Momma's kittens in our family. It's hard, we have 5 older cats so we've gone through the hissy fits and whale sounds to the point now they're napping on my bed together. I feel all of our cats are remarkable to be as peaceful as they are. I do have one terrible bully in particular but we work with him and oddly enough, he has been the most sensitive to our 2 little disabled kittens. Evidently when Momma was carrying her last litter she had a virus (something that caused encephalitis) that affected the nervous systems of the kittens. Only one was born with the ability to walk correctly. The other 2 larger cats have outgrown their earlier off-balance gait but the 2 smaller cats (one is obviously the runt of the litter) still tumble and fall because they are always off balance. They would not have survived outside and so we decided to bring in the entire litter instead of separating them. Momma came in to nurse them which is how we got so close to her but she just would not use the litter box. In a very small house with only 4 available rooms, all cats have to use the boxes properly. As it is we have 9 boxes we do twice a day. In all honesty, there really isn't much of a cat smell in the house as long as the boxes are done daily! I don't have any help other than many shared experiences. I lost a 2 month old kitten last summer and I am still grieving. I consider myself a tough bitch, so makes me wonder if I have some kind of hole in my brain, leaking away my tough. (((cat and you))) Dear AJ, I know just what you mean about tough! I used to ride a Harley and drive a semi truck but when it comes to animals I'm as soft as a bunny. I am a cry baby, I pick up on my son's sadness and there is no toughness about me. From all the birds, fish, cats and dogs I've had, none have ever been whisked away from me without knowing. It is what it is and I know there is a spiritual lesson to be learned her but I'm still grasping at straws. I will come to terms with this, I always do but this time it's particularly difficult. Thank you all for replying to me on this thread. It really meant a lot to me waking up to find such gracious help. It made my morning easier to get through today and gives me more strength to help my son cope with this loss as well. Bless all of you and again, thank you.
Page of Ghosts Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 I'm really sorry to hear about your cat :'( I'm a big fan of kitties but I don't live with one because of allergies so I just admire them from afar or hope not to get the sniffles if I visit one. I hope you at least figure out what has happened to her should she not turn up, but I really hope she does! Outdoor cats can wander around pretty far. My aunts cat (most probably) hitched a ride with the neighbour to his work more than half an hour away on an island (they assumed so since that's the only explanation they could think of for how he ended up so far away), and was missing for a few years before he was recognised and brought back home to her.
Saturn Celeste Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! SHE CAME BACK!! I was looking out my window like I do everyday hoping to see Momma and she was there today! First I noticed the teenaged babies playing and they haven't done that since she left. Momma is the the color of wheat almost and we had cut the grass and left clumps of grass that have now browned and I coudn't really see her in the grass clumps until she moved! It was her! It was Momma! My son ran outside to feed her and she came a running. She has a sensitive spot on her shoulder but looks to be in good shape, no open wounds. She has lost a little weight which was good because after she was spade and ate all the kittens food (well, not all of it) she had packed on the pounds but she's looking fabulous today! Thank Bast for her return and our little cat family is complete. 15 cats in total and we are blessed! ^-^
EmpyreanKnight Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Oh hey that's such good news, Saturn! I'm glad Momma came back none the worse for wear. :))
Flaxen Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 That is great news! So pleased she’s come back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DanielJUK Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 I'm so glad I went with my "don't give up hope post" because I had a little feeling she would come back! But I don't always get it right but this gives me further faith in the universe that she came back safely! Thanks for the update Saturn and how wonderful you have the whole cat family back together <3 <3 <3
Bodhiseed Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 Glad she came back from her 'holiday' - what wonderful news!
Arch Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 To me, you gave the cat a part of you by loving it. By losing the cat, you now lost a part of yourself. It will hurt and you must tend the pain just as you would a physical injury. Disinfect the wound, bandage it up, and be careful with it until it has healed. The scar will always be with you to remind you of the loss though. How you would "disinfect/bandage" it depends on how your life works, but removing any psychic irritants and setting up a barrier is what I'm aiming for. Then let the part of you that is hurting basiclly rest/mourn when it is hurting, whatever rest/mourning means for you.
