I saw this deck is up on eBay...the Greenwood for $200?! However, I wonder if I should be suspicious since there is no book or box. I had read some time ago that some people were getting away with selling the self-printed copies of the Greenwood for exorbitant prices. Not saying that's the case here, but this is the cheapest I've seen I think so I'm a little wary! https://www.ebay.com/itm/323302591347

Mi-Shell[/member] is the real expert on this deck! Hopefully she might pass on by sometime  <3

I have looked at this deck a lot on online sites cos I am hoping to grab it one day for a good price. It's weird they don't show many of the cards, just the top and the pile. Although I did buy a vintage early 70's Aquarian Tarot recently and the pic was just the box but then there are plenty of those out there. This is an expensive and rare OOP deck now.

Mi-Shell has a pdf of the deck on her site with kind permission of the artist Chesca Potter that you are allowed to print and then cut out. The card titles in the white border are removed from the pictures (the artist requested that) so we can rule out that it's definitely not her good quality online version just printed because there are titles on the cards in the picture!

I can't really say. There are versions of this deck around without the book for that sort of price. I think if someone bought this and it was a fake they could probably complaint to ebay and say it wasn't genuine! I think you would be protected by their policy.

I am sure some of the deck experts may know better than me! It's weird that link for me has ended but they are selling more of them, each time individually with the same description. This is a new auction they just put up. Same info as the last here

if you were interested, I would contact them and ask....

1/ is it the genuine deck (then you have it in writing if it's then a fake!)

2/ can you see some more pics of the cards?

I know nothing about this deck but can attest to the fact that, after buying decks since I was a teen and having some now "expensive" decks, I didn't often think of saving books or cases. I wasn't a "collector". I was just someone who used the cards to read, or didn't. I bought things back in the 90s with no thought of selling. So if I didn't energetically take to them, they literally sat around for years (and years).

That said: Agree with all advice given. Beware of frauds, check sources as you can.

All Best,

Sandy

Agreed, would be lovely to see Mi-Shell[/member]!

Thanks for that- I didn't realize that the titles are removed from the available self-print version so that's good to know! I think you're right- this one probably was legit. It went very quickly- no surprise there!!!

Great points, Sandy. I guess it wasn't that not having the book and box itself made me suspicious, just that having those would have given me more faith that it was real. The main reason I doubted this one was the price- it just seemed too inexpensive! But my guess is it probably was legit. I hope so for whoever bought it!

The titles are removed because if they were in there, reprinting would be breach of copyright. Chesca has the copyright on the ART, but not on it as a deck, if you see what I mean.

Those ebay pix look suspiciously fuzzy to me. I note that the seller has pulled the listing. I rather suspect that's because they have realised it's not an original.

I note also that they have the Hello Kitty deck - the Rosales one - in colour (which Rosales' wasn't) - up for sale. And we KNOW that's never been licensed, and Rosales was ordered by Sanrio to pull it or be taken to court. (Unless something has finally changed there - which I doubt.)

The seller has already sold 98 of them.... As RARE, and at $75...

I think this isn't a seller I would deal with. One illegal deck suggests others.

thanks gregory, I couldn't quite remember the reason the titles were removed just they had to be! and great advice to look at their selling history and other decks sold :)

Wow, thank you gregory!!! This makes me very glad I didn't go ahead and buy the deck on an impulse, which I did consider  :-\ I'm not interested in dealing with any seller who isn't completely on the up and up about their decks. I'm not completely sure if this seller is the deceived or the deceiver, but I agree, it sounds like someone not to deal with taking all that into account.

98 identical decks sold as "rare" is hardly BEING deceived, I fear...

I saw this on ebay too and immediately thought "fake". Wouldn't be able to prove it without having the cards in hand, but I would be very wary of any listing that doesn't come with the book these days. The high price and desirability of the Greenwood make it an easy target for con-artists. Frankly, I'm surprised that someone from alibaba hasn't flooded the market with copies.
