Flaking at the sides of Tarot of Mermaids Deck Cards

Featured Replies

I am encountering a problem with me deck of cards from the Tarot of Mermaids Deck Cards. There are flaking or shedding at the sides of the cards over time as i shuffle them and use them with people whom i read. I have tried to clean them over, but the marks appears once again. Have anyone encountered this problem with this deck or cards, or other tarot or oracle decks?

I have this deck too.  I don't have flaking or shedding on them, but I have noticed dark blue spots at the edges of the cards.  I don't know what causes them, though.

I don’t know if this will help the exact damage you have, but sometimes getting a paintbrush and sealing problem edges with mod podge can help. Especially with cards separating at the edges or ink spreading due to humidity!

Night Shade[/member] Yes! That is what is happening to my deck. I was puzzled as to how there were spots on the deck cards at the sides. I am saying flaking because everytime i clean it off, there will be white spots present (looks like the original material being scrapped off). This is my second deck from Tarot of the Mermaids!

Faye[/member] mod podge? What is this? I will take a look about this. Thank you, Faye!

This is the only deck I use that this has happened with, so it may be something to do with the quality of the ink the publisher used, or as Faye[/member] said, something to do with humidity ( I've noticed that when it gets humid, my cards all stick together).

No problemo! It’s a glue/sealer, very useful for all sorts of craft work ^-^ there are quite a few types, but the Paper Matte or Paper Gloss kind should work best, depending on your deck finish
