Moon Oracle by Caroline Smith- news!

I just saw on Facebook that the Moon Oracle by Caroline Smith has been picked up by a new publisher and will be available again in a new edition by the end of this year. I've seen a lot of people seeking for this deck so wanted to share the news!

That is good news! I gave mine away and then regretted it when I went to purchase it again and it was OOP.

She and John were working on a new deck when he died. I really hope it is being carried forward.

I've contacted her various ways but never had a response

I love them for my blog draws, so many places to go.  I'd never chose one of them to read for someone though!

Looks like the reprint release date for this is May 2018. (I think? Unless they're using the day/month format, in which case it's July.)

I recently bought the first edition on ebay because I have always wanted it! Prices were always over $300 / £200ish minimum! but I found it a few weeks ago for £40! But the prices have all fallen and I wondered why! It's good to have a new version because the moon tables at the back ended in 2015! whilst you can get the info online, it's more tricky to work out all the attributes of a day. I am finding it so complicated to work out the system but I love the artwork and so glad I own it now  <3

I've noticed this happening more and more frequently with decks! first out in the home country and then months after it's in other countries! I am waiting for the Animal Spirit Oracle and we have a two month delay in the UK on Amazon  :'( hope it's out soon for all! glad it got a new edition  :)

Still debating buying It again as I think I’d get more out of it now. [emoji3]

I bought it, mainly because its been on my wish list for a very long time and because I sort of have started to collect moon-themed decks (or so it seems  ;D) I have not begun working with it yet so I wont comment on its usefulness. I am currently working with the Wild Moon Lunar Phase deck and I really like that one. I also have the Creatures of the Moon oracle and The Green Wheel oracle (the Green Wheel contains both cards for the lunar cycles and the wheel of the year) There seem to be a trend among moon-phased decks for sure. Yasmin Boland is also releasing 'Moonology cards' later this year.

I have been working out the Moon Oracle recently for myself , using old AT threads discussing the moon tables, this is my guide to selecting the moon card when you don't have the current tables...

 

go to this website and it will tell you the current moon phase (there are other websites and apps and calendars but this is a clear site for it if you have no other source). You need the current moon phase and it's astrological significance.

 

Some of the moon progression terms are really outdated and not really used today which I found so confusing, I had never heard them before! Balsamic anyone?  :D I wonder if they will be updated in the new edition, I think we just say first quarter and waxing and waning these days. You can match the current moon picture in the box with the book and Black Moon = New Moon.

 

The Moon will be progressing in one of the astrological houses and each astrological sign has an associated element, taken from wiki....

 

Element    Signs

 

Fire         Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Earth   Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Air         Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Water Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

 

To get the moon of the reading (for the moon cards) you just get the current moon phase, sign it's currently in and work out the element. You can search online calendars if you want past or future moon phases for different spreads (for example when you were born). That is as far as I have got, now I need to work out the other two types of cards used  ;D
