Autumn Equinox/Mabon

Do any of you do anything to celebrate or honor the equinox? I'm really wanting to in some way. I've been researching some new to me fallish recipes to make a big dinner for my little family and I'm afraid the list is a wee bit overboard. ;D

I also homeschool, so was planning to take my girls out for a real nature walk and talk about all the things that would be changing as the weeks go by and why. Start the oldest with a nature journal and try to document the changes. Just somehow incorporate it all together as a way to honor the day and make it educational.

Is there anything special that you do or would like to do?  :)

That sounds wonderful! The whole theme of the season is bounty, so it's hard for me to imagine a celebration going overboard. Do all of the fun things  :)

We are having a gathering of friends with a pot luck feast followed by a naturalist-led night hike in the forest to find bats and owls and the magic of the fall. It's going to be pretty great

Yours sounds awesome as well! Happy to see I'm on a similar path as someone else.  :D

.. and I just realized I had typed "natural walk" and "natural journal" in my post.. I meant nature, apparently I can't type what I really mean at times  ::)

Hahaha, I knew what you meant!

You can check your local nature centers or state/county parks, they usually have some kind of program for the first day of fall

Oh! I didn't think to check with the parks. Though sadly they aren't doing anything for the equinox. But I found some other interesting events.. like chocolate making (what?!? Hah) and full moon canoe riding!
