Any spiritual encounter that defies explanation?

Do you have any spiritual encounters that defies explanations? For instance, an encounter with angels or your spirit guides? I have one such experience, it was an encounter with Jesus.

For me, I was at this birthday party of a christian friend.

The friend suddenly asked if anyone had any word from Jesus.

Suddenly, I was prompted to go to this unknown person in the party and tell her to be a social worker.

I was very frightened for I knew nothing about the girl.

But the prompting from Jesus was strong.

So, being the coward that I was, I went to the girl and asked her if she had anything to do with social work.

The girl revealed that she always wanted to be a social worker but had no courage to do so.

I conveyed God's message to her.

It was a weird experience. I am not sure if it was really Jesus who spoke to me, but it encouraged the unknown person to be a social worker. So, I think it is really Jesus who speak to me.

What about you? Does your spirit guides/angels/deities let you experience a supernatural encounter, that is beyond explanation?

Uhm yes...haha I have ALOT...I'll just share just a few

* Lived in these old apartments as a child...would hear my name being called when no one was calling me; had sleep paralysis right after a bad/scary dream about my sister there and her alarm went off during the paralysis I wanted to warn her about something; I was unable...Went into the laundry room one day to grab a toy picked up a furby and it started talking and moving then realized there was no batteries in it. O_O Then one night my mom wished me goodnight...15 in later realized the door was open which I can't sleep with and called for her to please close it- I was a lazy child (felt she was asleep though) but about 20 sec later a bright glowing blue figure appeared in the doorward and my door slammed shut. Also in these apartments I started getting dreams for a week straight that would come true the next day to where I felt life was meaningless and preplanned and boring so I asked to them to stop and they only did for the next day dream occurance...now I will have deja vu in my present life that will coincide with a dream from years ago. Also now I will dream of things that are happening or peoples intentions or feelings towards me and also linked dreams where we either remember the same occurances or I will go to their past and see things about them...

*Played with a homemade ouija board with a friend when I was 16; we were not to cautious and thought this was a great idea and also the brilliant idea to prick our thumbs and put thumbprints on the board. We set up next to the forest line at night. We asked if anyone was with us *YES* we asked who it was *S-8* Her eyes got big and she yelled it was going to spell s8n (silly I know)- I thought so too at the time and felt she was messing with me so I followed her back to the house. We went out an hour later to take a walk in the grass outside and we both stopped dead in our tracks because there was this TALL black figure standing on the edge of the forest. It was nighttime out and this shadow figure was blacker and darker than anything I've ever seen as if a black whole; absolutely no reflection of light. We both ran back to the house; she said she saw it walking on all 4's at first then stood up. It appeared to be about 7-8 feet talk and thin. Male figure and energy. I went home and was scared so slept on my couch in the livingroom. My friend called me saying she kept seeing it in her windows outside and then she said it posessed her or something; I'm not sure. I went to bed I woke up in the middle of the night half asleep to this same figure standing on the edge of my feet looking down. I wasn't too scared because I was in a relaxed state and comfort when the spirit realm when I first wake up and it gave me the word "knave" in my mind (didn't know what it meant at the time) but googled it and found it to be an old word for an unscrupulous man of some sort.

Anyway outside of that; I have had other things happen that defies science but I can offer explanation; I have seen and communicated with different types of spirits; but once living (boy that was the son of my landlord; died of brain cancer and wanted to speak to me about his mom; she said my description of him was spot on for his appearance right before his death) , and also angels and fairies (light bodies) they range from tiny flashes of colored light to large flashes of light that flutter with what appears like wings, to huge light bodies of energy (human form) that surrounds people (guides/angels)

Also I have had telecommunication with animals where I get information from them I would not have known otherwise. I have gotten some confirmation of this with an owner for information I would not know otherwise but usually I communicate with wild animals when they express any sort of curiousity in me; not usually about them but I rather ask about myself or issues involving me. I can also do this with some people...with linked dreams (we wake up and share the same details); dreaming of their child selves (I have asked about it and recieved confirmation on details as well) Seeing someone expressing feelings or concerns with me in a dream that I recieve confirmation of soon after, or simply sending a telepathic message to them which they respond to in the real world, and also I have interacted with the spirits of living humans. These people that I can do this with usually have immense emotional depth and usually ALOT of issues...one was a light body very protective loving light bright blue energy, another was a dark force like a demon that would haunt me for a couple days; wake up  with scratches, hear him talking to me all night; could only sleep when he slept and this guy could really tap into my head (and claimed he could time travel) and would try to hypnotise and intimidate to get me to do what he wanted. I learned to protect myself better though and tried to teach him a little about karma.

Overall my experiences with the spirit realm have been overwhelmingly positive; the scary stories just are kind of fun to tell. XD

Anyway I have alot more and more detail but this is all I wanted to share. I may write some sort of book someday because it's really amazing and I would believe none of it unless I experienced it firsthand.

That is beautiful how this worked out. You probablly inspired her to go for it :) I had a similar thing happen, but I'm not sure the source.. Me and my husband were moving across the country and stopped to sleep at this hotel in Utah I think. When we were walking in I thought I heard laughter but my husband said it was a woman crying out. We went into the room and got a bad feeling so I told him to go tell the office and report it. I was waiting for him to handle it as I'd rather not (this was a couple years ago, I was very shy) and something told me GO OUTSIDE NOW, so I did and I saw this man dragging this woman to the parking lot. I yell to him and ask him what he's doing and he says "nothing" and I tell him to let her go and he tells me she's fine but she looks hurt and like she was crying so I tell him she dosn't look fine and  to let her go and push for like 30 seconds for him to let her so so he gives up, lets her go and drives off. Anywho I love when the spirits call to you loud and clear like this. I've had this happen alot for telling me if people are of good intention or bad intentions for me or others. I would love to inspire someone to make positive change; I am just now starting intuitive reads and am able to pick up on some things but working on that.

Wow, you sure have lots of encounters!

This is shaping up to be a very interesting thread, chongjasmine, and I bet it would be a great read for Halloween. I only ever had one truly terrifying encounter, but it's a bit personal so I'd have to really consider if I would post it here.

Suffice it to say that many visitors, especially those who are "sensitive", have seen and/or felt very strange things in our house. We're positive that a doppelganger dwelled here at one time, and thankfully it was a relatively harmless one. There were many other sightings too. I guess my immediate family is lucky that we're not that attuned. In any case, I feel that my room is adequately protected tho, and if I feel uneasy or oppressed, a few prayers are usually enough to make things right.

I hope more people post their experiences here. This will be such a good read for Halloween! :)

I've had a few, but with people as they were crossing over....One person didn't leave for a wee while,as there was stuff to finish up, then they were gone....

What amazing experiences!

I agree. It's great timing EmpyreanKnight.  ;)

I have many, and some are quite long to tell so I'll post more later. But one that is currently boggling to me is when laying down in bed, but fully awake, I have heard my hubby come in the house, come into the bedroom, pull back the covers and lay down next to me. Not actually touching me or saying a word, but I'm absolutely sure without a doubt, its him. Right down to feeling his body heat and warmth of his breath. As I roll over to see him resting next to me I suddenly realize its not him! It's no one...I'm alone and confused.  :o ???

Several people have shared theories on this. I'm not asleep, so its not a dream.  Astral travel of some type?

Maybe falls under a vardoger kind of experience (hearing someone come home before they actually do), but much richer than the usual versions!

I have a few. The ones that I remember the best are from when I was a kid so I hope they're not just dreams.

- Once when my school was going on a mountain hike in the fall (I grew up by a fjord so we have mountains right out the door and my school used to go on at least one hike in fall and spring + several ski travels up the hills or halfway up the mountain in winter) when I was about 12 I saw something strange in the fog. It was a super foggy day and the school mates I was walking with and me couldn't see much. Luckily one of the kids' dog came running up the mountain (we were really far away from where we started, about halfway or 3/5 up the mountain, this dog was not very well diciplined and used to run away a lot) and showed us the way. We were almost up by the stone pillar that marks the top when I saw a man maybe 8-4 metres ahead of me. He had long brown hair and a brown biker leather jacket and was standing looking out from the mountain with his back towards me. I looked away, I think, and he was gone. He did remind me of one of my schoolmates mother, who had similar hair and jacket, but who wears a leather jacket like that up a mountain? I don't remember if she was with us on the trip but I don't think she would wear a jacket like that if she was... most people from the village know how to dress for mountain hikes and I don't think they would choose an outfit like that for it. I didn't speak with anyone about this so I don't know if I was the only one who saw the man. Maybe I thought I had imagined it.

- The mysterious bucket that disappeared and reappeared. When I was very small, so small I could barely remember it when I was maybe 10-11, I had one of those kiddie buckets that you play in the sand with. I can't remember the colour of it (white or yellow I think?) but it had a friendly face on it and I liked it a lot. At some time I lost it though. My mother and grandmother used to talk about that bucket (it was appearently a bucket to remember!) and I missed it a lot. At about 10, possibly in the spring, I was playing in this very small river by my aunts house. River might not be the right word for it, it was maybe 2 feet/60 cm across. Suddenly I see something coming down the river and it's... my old bucket! It looked a bit beat up and dirty but it surely was that same bucket! I played a bit with it, filled it up with water and poured it out in the river again, before I lost my grip on it. The bucket went down the river and was lost again. However.. next spring I was playing by the small river again and the bucket shows up again. I'm not sure if I picked it up to play with it again and lost it, or if I was so perplexed to see it again that I just let it float down the river. Either way I never saw it again and I'm pretty confident it wasn't a dream.

I had to go read up on vardogers and fylgjur's as I hadn't heard of them before. How interesting!

It makes sense to me more than anything else has considering other things that happen too.

Such as, the last three weeks I've almost shut the garage door on my hubby three times as he's pulling in with the truck since I'm under the assumption he's already pulled inside the garage. (We have an opener that hangs inside the door of the house to the garage where I can clearly see what's going on)

I feel him pulling in, hear/see his truck, feel the subtle rumble in my feet, but nope...he's not there. Within a couple moments, as I see he's NOT there and proceed to shut the door down, he's pulling in just as he did moments before??

I experienced this again the other day as I got home. Before shutting the garage door I was trying to explain what was happening to my son. Sure enough, my hubby and his truck come pulling in towards the garage as I was talking.

It's much more than sensing him nearby or an intuitive response. He is there. Or so I think.  ;)

They are, maenifold.

It's been going on for some time now.

It feels really quite odd. I've had premonitive dreams that are distinguishable by repeating over and over as if to say, "Hello?

Are you paying attention??" One of the big ones I had was of a fire downstairs in our home where my daughter slept. I kept dreaming there was a fire outside her room and she couldn't get out. I had this exact same dream for weeks until one night I woke up screaming "Fire!!". Running down the stairs there was a huge flame going up the wall of my daughters room. There was a wiring issue with a fish tank and it started a fire! We got my daughter out OK but that one really scared me.

So I honestly wonder what this is about? After reading up on vardogers, it does explain some of the experiences quite well but yet I'm not sure?

My hubby and I have been drifting apart for months so its hard to grasp that this starts shortly after instead of before when we were closer.

Thanks for the reply - what a frightening experience that fire must have been, though amazing that premonition dreams prepared the ground for you waking into action.

One thing I thought about your current experiences with sensing your husband, maybe (?) it's a sign that things are slightly "out of synch" between you ( or a result of things being out of synch between you) --  your sense of him is slightly out of synch in time.

Yup. Too many to write down! Interesting reading these all, though.

I've had a few odd experiences. One of the most vivid was shortly after my Mum had died. I was in my bedroom, crying, when all of a sudden I felt a rush of love and a sensation which I can only describe as being wrapped in a lovely, soft, warm blanket. It was immensely comforting.

I also do shamanic journeying and have had some journeys which have then been corroborated in real life. Always gives me a tingle when it happens and makes me realise that perhaps it's not all in my head.  ;D

I guess it depends on what you mean by "defies explanation". I can usually find an "explanation" for most things. I've seen a couple of UFO's ... to me, they are extraterrestrial. I've encountered a few ghosts over the years ... they were spirits of people who have passed. And then there are the Tarot readings I do for friends and sometimes for strangers, where I am able to provide information about things that, even in the case of friends sometimes, I have no way of knowing about ... that information comes from my own Spirit Guides, sometimes the other person's Guides, from beyond me.

Those are all explanations. They just wouldn't be accepted by someone who was a complete skeptic and they wouldn't be accepted by members of the scientific community. But I accept them for myself.

A few months ago, as I was getting back into Tarot and other Spiritual work, I got down my magic wand from the mantle. This is a wand that my wife purchased for me a while back, but I never had the opportunity to use it before this. She had gotten it from Beadworx.com, who we have ordered from many times - fortunately she still has the pictures of it on her site if you're interested; http://www.beadworx.com/SpiritHealer.html.

Anyway. I pulled it down and held it in both hands to attach to it and dedicate it for healing and protection. As I held it in both hands and did a chant, I felt a powerful surge of energy pass from, or through the wand, up my arms and through me to the Earth. It was an amazing feeling. The wand was accepting me and connecting to my energy. It was also drawing in power and passing it on to me. That's what it felt like anyway, and that was my "explanation" for what I felt.

I use this wand now to set up protection around me when I'm doing certain kinds of work. I've also used it to send healing and protection to friends. I still feel it's energy every time I use it.

[ETA:] Later I'll relate the encounter of the most menacing ghost I've come across ... if y'all are interested. ;)

[ETA:] Later I'll relate the encounter of the most menacing ghost I've come across ... if y'all are interested. ;)

Years ago I saw a UFO coming home across the Courtney Campbell Causeway.  There is a space over open water but with land on each side.  Where it was just open water was a huge band that spanned almost across the entire mouth of the open water (Old Tampa Bay) with flashing lights.  It was amazing, even the water was lit up from the lights.  As I got home, I ran into the house and called MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa (nearby-I lived in Clearwater FL) and reported what I saw.  Never heard anything about it but I know what I saw.

When I was pregnant and living in Iowa, I napped a lot.  I would hear telephones ringing in my dreams but not the real phone by my bed.  They were really realistic sounding phones!  After one of these 'phone' dreams I woke up and saw a strange man wearing a flannel shirt & jeans (this is Iowa) staring intently at me.  Even though he dressed like my husband it wasn't him.  But he was not threatening so when I saw him I just asked who he was then he was gone.

My dad had always been interested in my computers.  I used to work at night as a telemarketer and got home late.  My son had forgotten to turn off the computer before he went to bed and as I came into the kitchen where my desktop was, I put my purse down and saw my dad standing next to my computer, with his arms crossed over his chest like he did looking at the computer.  I said, "Hi dad" and he turned to me then was gone.

I can't describe the feeling that overcame me with these encounters.  In the cases with the spirits I was very calm and wanted to talk to them and felt they wanted to talk to me.  There was no malice, no anger, just a calmness that overcame me.  The UFO terrified me, it was not natural, it was not supposed to be in that spot over the water.  I drove fast as I could home and truly ran to the phone.  Not that the AFB would acknowledge such a sighting anyway but I felt good for having reported it.

My son has had a few experiences, one of them was easily understood.  He slept in my grandmother's old room for awhile (until he got freaked out by the night disturbances) and he heard knocking in the closet.  I guess this happened a couple times before he came and told me.  I knew instantly it was my grandmother, his great grandmother.  When I was a little girl she would hide and knock on the wall.  She was usually in a closet and I would have to come and find her.  I was pretty little, maybe around 4.  I told him it was my grandmother but that didn't comfort him and soon after that, he moved out of that bedroom.  I could not blame him!

I believe it is my ancestors with me when I read cards.  I often greet them and wish them happy birthdays.  I sound like a nut but I am the only member of my family, aside from my son left alive and I can't help but feel they are with me.

Trogon, your wand is amazing!  All the stones embedded in it are wonderful, it is a work of art!  That entire site was excellent.  I'd like one of each please. ;)

And please, tell us more of your stories.  I've told you mine, now it's your turn.  :P

Okay. This is the only encounter with a spirit which "frightened" me. I put that in quotes because I can't think of a better word. I wasn't truly frightened, but ... well, you'll see what I mean.

In 1985 I started working at the university as a Security Officer (we worked along with the Police Officers, but did foot patrol, checked buildings, locked doors & so forth). There was a building that had been used as a residence for the President of the school back in the 1920's or so. In 1985, there were offices in that old "President's Residence". One night I was checking buildings in that part of campus and noticed a light on in a room on the second floor. There were steps going up to the front door, I went up ... opened the outside screen door, unlocked the inside door and opened it and took one step in and felt a hand against my chest. It stopped me cold. I said "if you don't want me here, I'll leave" and felt a push ... so I backed out, closed and locked the door and I never set foot inside that building. A little later that same night, the Sergeant on duty asked if I'd noticed that light on ... I told him what had happened and he just said "never mind".

That building has since been torn down and there's a statue there now. Last year I went there with a digital recorder to try to get some EVP's. I didn't get anything that sounded like a voice, but there were three times, in the hour that I was there that night, where there was an odd groaning sound that I did not hear at the time. It wasn't anything like trains or cars (all of which I noted on the recording at the time). But whatever had been there didn't seem to have the strength that it did before. At least it didn't feel as though it wanted me to leave, but it didn't answer me when I talked to it.

I do plan on trying again during the Christmas break when there will be very little outside noise.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've had dreams of the future that have always come true, like deja vu. I've also had dreams of angels and light. But I've also had the opposite too. I've had dreams of J\jinn and dark entities and they usually bring dark shapes and chaos to my sleep.

When my dad passed away, I used to talk to him like he was there and I think he was.

I just posted this the other day in response to a question in "mediumship" forum, but it's relevant here, too. I could add things related to other spiritual encounters (mostly guides, though also a few ghosts and astral travel), but the post was already way too long...

1) When in liminal dream space, I often get communications from dead people. It always starts the same; there's a displacement, in that I know this is not my "dream world" but someone else's space, and then I know I'll get a visitation. So for example, I "dreamed" I was at a high school basketball game, sitting on the bleachers, and my first thought was, "What am I doing HERE?" But then I turned and my friend's father (dead) was next to me, and he was really excited and he kept telling me to "Tell Millie [mother of my friend] I have my ring. I have it!" And he just went on and on and on to the point where I was like, "Mr. R, I'm going to get up RIGHT NOW (i.e. in the middle of the night) and e-mail Jean and have her tell Millie that." So I did, because seriously, I just wanted him to shut up (he really would not stop going on about it). Got a freaked out e-mail back from my friend the following morning, who did in fact pass along the message to her mother. My friend was like, "HOLY SH-T", because as it turned out, Millie had just visited the house that she and Mr. R first lived in (she did this through a mutual friend) and was just telling the story of how when Timmy (my friend's oldest brother) was little, he came into the bedroom, grabbed Mr. R's wedding ring from the bedside table (he apparently took it off every night) and threw the ring down the heating vent. They never found it, and Mr. R never replaced the ring. In fact, my friend didn't even know he EVER wore a ring (she wasn't even born when this happened). She assumed he never had one. Oddly enough, too, my friend told me (reminded me? I don't recall ever knowing, though) that though Mr. R was a high school science teacher (which I did know), his favorite thing to do was to coach the boy's high school basketball team.

Another time (this one was freaky!): I "woke" from a dream state and found myself in my bedroom, right where I was sleeping. On the other side of the bed, standing next to where my husband lay, there was a little Jewish man, who, though I'd never met him, I felt tremendous love from and familiarity with (i.e. I "knew" him, regardless). I have since found these people to be spirit guides (though sometimes guides don't look human at all). Anyway, he said, "Sandy, you're going to turn your head and see something that will frighten you, but I don't want you to be afraid." And I was like, OK. So I turned my head and there was this VERY INTENSE young person--boy, maybe 12, that I didn't know, and he was like right in my face. To top it off, he had WHITE hair (think Children of the Corn white hair) and that would have scared the SH-T out of me, had my guide not told me not to be afraid. ANYWAY, so this kid communicates that he is my neighbor Brenda's grandson. I knew she had lost her grandson in a car crash (talk in the neighborhood), but had never seen a picture of him, nor had I ever met him. He kept telling me that he wanted "Meme" to know that it wasn't her fault and there was nothing she couldn't have done, etc. So I haul my butt over to my neighbor's house (always slightly awkward to give messages to those I don't hang out with), and the entire time I was there, the light kept flickering by this kid's picture--he had dark hair but was the right age. I told Brenda the message, and she started to cry. Apparently her daughter (who was driving the car) had been high--she was a drug addict, and in the crash both were killed. Brenda felt very guilty that though she tried to intervene with her daughter, she didn't do more to get her grandson out of the house. So the message helped her (to my relief). I added before I left, "I'm really glad this made sense to you, because my "dream" frightened me a little." She asked Why, and I told her that the child I saw had WHITE hair. She said (very matter-of-factly), "Oh, he did have white hair. He dyed it about a month before the accident because he wanted to look like Billy Idol."  Added note: When I came back home, my lights flickered all day, so I know he was around me still.

At my childhood home (haunted), which was built in 1848, I see shadows and hear things--like an old piano playing, people talking downstairs, etc. Once when I was walking up the steps and came to the hallway, I had a "flash" of the hallway not carpeted and a pool of blood, and I knew someone died there. Stuff like that. Before my dad died (he drowned), I was home visiting, and the house was like over-the-top noisy, literally to the point where I got up, went downstairs to the kitchen (where at 4 a.m. my dad was also up, having coffee) and I yelled into the dark living room, "I hear you all already! Stop keeping me up." Anyway, the last night we were home, I turned my head and saw a woman with white hair and a bun walking in the hallway. She looked over at me but said nothing. She was kind of intimidating, but I understood her to be a relative of my dad's, someone I had never met, but I knew she belonged to our family, if that makes sense. She sort of nodded and headed into my dad and mom's bedroom. I nudged my husband awake. He was like, "What's wrong?" I told him I felt very strongly that my dad was going to die (for however it happened, it was "communicated" to me that loved ones were around him, that they were coming for him). That was mid-January. Early March he drowned while working down at the creek. Oh, and about a year later, when my mom was going through old photos, I was like, "THAT'S THE WOMAN!" As it turns out she was my great grandmother Chadow, who wore a bun.

I have gotten messages when in haunted houses. Seen flashes of things. Before anyone thinks I'm crazy, though I grew up in a majorly haunted house (bizarre incidents--I could write for hours about my childhood experiences), I have NEVER lived in a haunted house in my adult life. And I've lived in five houses now. Most currently, I live in a 1914 house that had three owners (I am the third). BOTH owners died here, and you know what? This house is peaceful as a church. No shadows. No ghosts. No conversations. No "hot spots" that make your hairs stand on end. Notta. :)

Anyway, there's tons more. Like Aunt Izzy showing up asking about my Mom, then I tell my mom that, and it turns out it was the anniversary of Aunt Izzy's death, or her birthday, or whatever. Stuff like that. Oh, and three or four times now (over years), I've been shown what I know to be crime scenes, and I have this terribly panicked feeling that I need to remember what I'm seeing. Then I wake up and search missing kids on databases (seriously). But I never get specific enough info. The one girl who visited came back two nights in a row. The first night I knew she had been taken. She showed me where she was--it was this brick rancher, out in a wooded area (I sensed there were few neighbors around the house), and the shrubs in the front of the house were not kept up, etc. But no street signs or anything useful. The second night I was sitting in a very nice home that I knew to be her house (not the same house). My father (dead) was there. The girl walked by me and went up the backsteps of the kitchen. As she did, she disappeared. I said to my dad, "Oh, he killed her." And my dad just nodded. These happen less often though, because lately I have communicated to spirit that I do not wish to be contacted about these things. They are too upsetting.

I have also asked that I NOT see full apparitions or dead people in my day (ie fully waking hours). Because that would freak me out. To be honest, I have asked this since I was little. But as I said, I do catch shadows, see flashes of things, hear things, etc. Sometimes I even smell things!

I could write tons more, but I like you all here, and don't want you to think I'm a total weirdo! :)

Whew keep them coming guys!

Regarding our house, some family friends who have the gift get apprehensive once they enter. One says they saw a spirit shuffling up and down our stairs. Another said he had to hold his pee in since when he wanted to go to a higher floor where the john is, something was sitting at the base of the stairs and he does not even wish to try to get past him. Another said that as he was watching the TV in one of our rooms with the door wide open (I dunno why he left it like that), something quick and black walked very fast past it into the direction of my room. You can bet that he quickly rushed outside to find someone to keep him company. Another just doesn't want to talk about anything. And yup they're staid and serious people, so we don't think they're trying to pull our leg.

Still, I think that they are mainly harmless since I very rarely have a malign experience when I sleep there. I think that some of them may even be protective.
