Hi everyone. I have a lot of RWS system decks and thought I should get at least one Thoth. Not sure if it’s a right fit yet but the art work intrigues me. I was looking on Amazon for the deck and this is the one that comes up:

In the details it says: Premier edition (December 31, 2005)

 

Then I found another version, with a different color box (both are by US Games and both are shipped and sold by Amazon, except this one is a few dollars cheaper):

In the details it says: Printed in Belgium edition (June 1, 1972)

 

What are the differences between these two decks, if any?

So, I did a bit of research. I used the ISBN numbers to search the US Games website. The differences are in the size. The Premier edition is what they consider the Small Deck (which is actually close to standard size) and the other one is the Large Deck. Premier just comes in a larger box I guess. Then they have the pocket edition. So confusing! I wonder why they don’t consider the Small Deck a Standard version?

Additionally, the gold box Thoths have been rephotographed, and they're lovely. 

 

 

 

Premier is in a large box - they did that when loads of people were shoplifting it when it was in a box the size of the deck.

Yeah, it says as much on the US Games site.

 

Anyway, I ended up ordering the first one I linked, the Premier edition. If I really love it, I might get the larger size later on, but for now I think the standard/medium size (which is Small officially, I guess) should do.
