It's been a while, how about a talk?

Well, it's so good to be back! (College is killing me, no joke).

Today i'm here to express, mostly, make questions and get some kind of advice from other fellow readers with more experience.

Right now i'm almost finishing my study on the Major Arcana, and this journey has been interesting and i dare to say caotic too. I've wasted my entire college vacation dedicated in learning and feeling my deck cards and right now the connection between me and my deck is no joke, seriously. Probably i'm slowly falling into some kind of madness the context of this sentence was in one of my readings were i could actually hear the arcana talking, like actually feeling their voices in my ears, my mom (who's mentor-ish me) said it's normal and makes part of the bonding process,  so i was like ok fun and frecking scary (please someone tell me i'm not going insane).

After i went back to my college and academic stuff i gave myself some time, i really needed that since i'm in a shitty place right now, not gonna detail everything but let's just say The Hermit (this card is been a total pain in the ass with me and idk why, any advice?) was pulled for about five times in a week. I can't figure out what this arcana want to tell me. But hey, learning process always involves tears and blood right?

Not to mention in this time i've made a wooden box to keep my deck safe and protected, (i'll probably share some photos if y'all are interested), i'm not gonna lie, i was extremely anxious for this step (i love do manual projects) and the next one is the Consagração (idk the word in english sorry 😞), which means in the next full moon mom and i are gonna make a pray and some other rituals to make this deck my tool (again idk how to explain properly). If you want to know more about it, i'll glady detail in how we do things like this.

I kind feel like i'm ready to step forward and make this huge learning process with the Minor Arcana, feel free to feed me with books, websites, method of learning and everything about it. It's a little bit sad since the time i passed with the major arcana made my life flip over entirely for good and for bad. I'm hoping this next step will go smoothly and calm.

Guys, i'm really in doubt about The Hermit, everything you could offer me will be appreciated.

Com amor,

Van

Hi Van! I think the English word you were looking for is consecration - making the deck sacred by dedicating it to the god(s)/divine spirit/ancestors/higher power of your choosing. I'm wondering if that's tied in to you pulling the Hermit - maybe that higher power really really wants the Consagração to take place so that the connection between the three of you (reader/deck/higher power) can be strengthened and they can start to guide you. Alternatively the Hermit could represent a mentor in a different context, perhaps at college or with the other difficulties you mention, and so it's a suggestion for you to reach out and find that supportive person as they'd be a great help to you at the moment.

I for one would love to see the wooden box you've made for your deck!

OMG you're soo right! After thinking a little bit my college counselor appeared in my mind (we had a huge fight on last week). The consecration went super fine yesterday (a beautiful full moon btw). 🤩

My wooden box is frecking cute!!! Honestly i'm proud of myself for doing it, it has red velvet inside, probably i'm goind to put more details as the time pass by, but i'm happy with the outcome of it. My father helped me with the design and the measurements.

With The Hermit card coming up, the answers or solutions you seek are already known to you. They are in your intuition, but you have to find a way to listen to them. Maybe meditation or withdrawal and taking time out, perhaps tarot reading. It's about an internal journey to listen to your subconscious 🙂

Sometimes it's too hard to just be quiet and listen. I'm the kind of person who only lives for action, so that's the biggest lesson i'm taking on my tarot journey. After reading some comments and hearing other people i think you're completely right.

I am using an Oracle Decks for my daily draw and the same cards seem to come up frequently.  I just take it that the Higher Powers really feel I need to pay attention to these messages.  I am trying to implement the advice I'm getting.   This morning I prayed that they would give me another card that I could lean from. The card was one I'd never picked out before. This is a 72 card deck so what are the chances that I keep pulling a lot of the same cards, I know it's not  coincidental.  It can be annoying sometimes.  These are inspirational cards.  I need to try to meditate on them more so I can move beyond this stage.  They aren't negative cards. Incidentally the new card I asked for today didn't seem as good a "fit" as the others--so I'm just going to let them make the help me choose without asking for any special favors.

Your Hermit is a good card.  I also view the Hermit as a mentor or a spiritual advisor. Give it time and I think things will bring clearer.

Learning Tarot should be a joyful experience.  If it's stressing you out to much I agree with what was said above--give yourself a break. I memorized all the meanings of the cards when I was younger, but now I have learned to trust my intuition to augment the definitions.  After I started using my intuition more, my readings came out clearer with better context.

Best wishes on your journey.

So, personally don't think that The Hermit is a bad card. I tend to visualize this card as someone in my life, who's extremely wise, but who in the other way can be really inflexible when about specific topics. But i agree it's bothers me that this card is always on my readings.

Other members from the forum actually told me to not try to memorize all the meanings, honestly i forced my self into memorizing it, but it was not a good a idea lol. I made a dictionary-ish of it, i can show after how i made it.

I think the trick to understanding tarot cards (Major AND Minor Arcana) is to continually practice using them.  Eventually (and it will probably take a while) certain cards will come to mean certain things to you.  These meanings may not be the same for everyone, but when YOU see that card, your brain goes 'snap!'  Because you have received this card many times, and it usually meant a certain thing.

I'm wondering— as you say you're getting The Hermit a lot—if you are using particular spreads?  If you ask a specific one-card question and you get The Hermit, or assign a particular question to a position in a multi-card spread, and you get The Hermit in that position, the meaning is likely to be much clearer to you than if you just throw down some cards in a random way and The Hermit is one of them.  The fact that that card keeps coming up is probably significant, but unless you know what your question is, the answer isn't going to make a lot of sense.

Try to organise your readings as much as you can.  Give yourself time and peace to absorb and think about what the cards in that reading mean.  If you are too impatient, you're going to struggle to get much out of tarot.  Try to make sure you're in a calm and receptive mental state before doing the reading.  It's fine to 'study' the cards at other times, just to learn more about them. But when you do a reading, do it with care and with enough time and space to absorb the meaning.

Perhaps what your recurring Hermit is telling you is exactly this?  Telling you to withdraw from distractions and dramas if you want answers.  Embrace time away from pressures and other people, and general noise.  Think on your own, reflect, take things slowly.  The Hermit does not indicate action, so maybe if you're getting The Hermit a lot, that's why.  You're trying to be too active, and maybe becoming impatient and frustrated because answers aren't just popping out of the ether at you.

You don't mention if you read reversed cards, but if you do, and The Hermit reversed appears, it CAN mean that you're hiding away too much, and that it's time to come out of your shell.  It can also indicate fear of examining a situation too closely for fear of what might be uncovered.

Best of luck in your search for meaning from the tarot!  You'll get there, but it won't be instantaneous.  You're building language between yourself and the great 'other,' and that takes time.

Hi.
I've seen the idea The Hermit is the counterpart to the Hiarophant.
First(Yang) searches understanding and clarity within, second(Yin) does it together with people on the outside.

In a reading, depends on the question and how one relates to their cards I guess... But maybe it could mean that what one is searching for may be easier to be found with their own approach, instead of the way is usually done by others.

@Chariot Hi! Your comment helped a lot with my little side adventure with The Hermit.

Answering some of your questions, i don't read reverse cards yet and i'm pulling three cards from the deck (sometimes four).

After some weeks (personal stuff happend) i started to enjoy the meaning of The Hermit, took me a while, my assimilation process over it was really slow and difficult lol.

Honestly i'm not a very calm person (i'm guessing my journey with tarot is to learn how to be more), personally i like movement and action.
