Huh??? vs Well....Duh!

The added "clarifier" cards on top of a "piddled puddle" from a deck that's only been riffled a few times causes "gobbledygook".  Plunk that mess down in front of a reader who hasn't ever really learned card meanings and combinations  who wings it intuitively and you've got a "Huh????" reading.  But leave off the "clarifiers", make the spread from a truly randomized deck, go intuitive only after thoroughly knowing basic card and card combination meanings and you'll have a "Well--duh!" reading that practically dances off your tongue.

What do I mean by truly randomized? Well, I was frustrated when I'd riffle and riffle and riffle my deck only to find out I was pulling the same cards in the same order as a spread I had just done sometimes..  Not always but frequently enough that it bugged me.  So I started dealing out the deck into four or five piles after a reading, gathering them all up, putting them away, and then riffling them again before the next reading.

I always randomize the deck after a reading is done and then put it away.  Then when I'm using it again, I riffle for the reading and for any other cards drawn for that particular reading.  Then when it's over, I randomize again and put the deck away,

If I recall correctly, I learned this method of randomizing from you back on Aeclectic Tarot, but I've adapted it to incorporate reversals by turning some of the piles upside-down and I've gone to eight sub-packs for a 50/50 split. I let my random distribution and orientation become cumulative over time, so I don't do the "full scrub" before every reading, just a thorough overhand shuffle. (I couldn't riffle to save my life.)

I love to riffle.  But I get really disappointed and unhappy when I can't do that.  My Star Tarot is just absolutely impossible for me to riffle but I love the deck so I just do the stack into piles thing.  And the Mystic Palette is almost on that list, although I've figured out how to "sorta riffle" by  just using the corners.  Sometimes that works but not always.  What I really can't do is trim a deck down to a smaller size in order to riffle.  Believe me, I've tried and tried.

I'm going to try again to use reversals, too.  I noticed some information in the Holistic Tarot and the Sacred India books that intrigued me so when (IF😒?) I ever finish moving and settling into this latest new-ish house I'm definitely going to get into that.

The reason I do that stacking thing after every reading is just something that feels right to me.  I don't re-order my decks, but stacking between readings seems to symbolically wipe out the previous reading so the new one can start fresh.  It's just me.

What is a sub-pack?
