Take a series of deep, grounding breaths to shift your awareness ... shuffle the deck and select 3 cards for MASTERY of Mind from a place of presence.

#1 CONCENTRATION

• Where should I focus my attention?

#2 MASTERY OF MIND

• How can I quell angst and worry?

#3 BOTANICALS

• What plant remedy will sharpen my mental faculties?

* This one can pull from the astrological rulership of the card, which links to the astrological rulership of the botanical/herb.  As per Medical Astrology & Astro - Herbalism.  However, an image or intuitive message may come forth as well to give you guidance and insight.

I'd love to see the cards you pull and read your impressions.

Please post them below if you feel so inspired.

Hi Alchemia

I like the attempt to explain Mercury, but the David Hawkin bit could do with a little more introduction and explanation and cross pollination of ideas.  By itself it doesn't make sense to me when talking about Mercury. Why? Well, we experience varying states of consciousness which Mercury could describe as he moves between things. You can't pick Mercury the substance up with your fingertips he/it is a slippery thing. ETA If he is about mind-training it might make sense.

The spread confuses me a little too, and it's probably more my reading of it than the spread. Position 2 asks how to quell worry, and I think position 1 answers that, i.e. focus. Focus on one thing only - hold a word or shape in the mind.  It might be worth asking what is the source of the worry, is there a complex or trauma that is being triggered? Then focusing on the resolution of that at the core, and methods for managing it, otherwise we're just on the roundabout. Our worries are based on thinking which leads to emotions, but Mercury is kind of beyond that, he switches between receiving and transmitting as his antenna on his glyph reveal. So minds scrambled with worry don't seem to be an aspect of Mercury, but switching a state is - sort of tweaking our antenna to stop interference or move off that frequency to ride another one (the Magician as will). That might be where Hawkin comes in. I have never read his work. Botanicals could be for nervous support, but contraindications mean there's a bit of risk.  Gingko suggested for someone taking warfarin or aspirin could be a problem.

Thanks for your contribution. I look forward to reading more as you take this journey.

@JoyousGirl In the Tarot, each card has an astrological correspondence. The Magician has the ruling planet of Mercury, which governs the realm of the mind.

- How we think.

- How we communicate.

- How we listen.

This God, Mercury, is the archetypal expression of the mental faculties. Yes, mind training and the being the architect of experience is his realm.

The correlation here with Power vs. Force sits within our intention and evolution of consciousness that is available when we direct our will by using every resource we have to create our reality. It’s a choice moment to moment based on where we place our focus.
