Eastern Ink Tarot - New Deck Interview
New Deck Interview
Tarot Netivot
Eastern Ink Tarot
June 3, 2023
Aesthetics are everything to me in deck selection. When this deck first made its appearance on Benebell Wen’s Instagram feed, I was sold. The colors are ethereal. Appearance-wise this deck transports one into other worldliness.
I was not looking for a Chinese deck to round out my collection. A Bali themed deck — I live in Ubud, Bali, would be a natural choice. This deck has yet to appear.
Meanwhile I have been quite seduced by the Eastern Ink Tarot. Now that I hold it in my hand, I am not disappointed. I did opt for the collector’s edition because I wanted the best quality paper and the metallic blue edges. Be aware, if you do buy the collector’s edition, it includes a full color guidebook written in Chinese. The LWB, written by Sasha Graham, only comes with the standard, less expensive deck. I have contacted the publisher and asked that they please make this available online for those of us who splurged on the deluxe deck but cannot read Chinese.
I am genuinely curious as to how this deck will best serve in my work as a professional reader. This deck is based on the RWS model.
Today’s interview questions:
1. Welcome to my temple, to my home, and to my mission work. How do you describe yourself?
2. What are your strengths?
3. What are your challenges or limitations as a deck?
4. What is your favorite type of reading?
5. Advice for strengthening and enjoying our relationship together.
6. What lesson are you here to share with me right now?
My first observation: All drawn cards are either Wands or Swords — along with one Major Arcana card ‘XX Judgement’. Will this prove to be a cerebral and spiritually oriented deck, just as I am a cerebral and spiritually oriented reader?
1. Welcome to my temple, to my home, and to my mission work. How do you describe yourself? Eight of Wands
I am a no nonsense deck. I am here to get the job done and get it done quickly. Truth is truth. If someone creates the right conditions and comes before me with a pure heart, I can reveal information that is detailed, clear, and multi-dimensional. I am here to support your quest for enlightenment and spiritual growth. I point the way to the clear and unobstructed path. Come to me when you want it straight.
2. What are your strengths? Three of Wands
I set my sight on far distant shores. My vision of the future is calculated and clear. We are expanding our reach both internally in terms of our ability to sense more and feel compassion; and externally in terms of broadening our reach and impact. I am here to help you to succeed in your mission work.
I inject confidence and surety that all of your investments are coming into fruition now. The long wait is over. I will support you in connecting with the right people, the necessary resources and the tools to be able to be more effective and do more. I will aid you in developing your skill set to be a more effective guide.
3. What are your challenges or limitations as a deck? King of Swords
The Eastern Ink Tarot is not a warm and fuzzy, feel good deck. I do not suffer fools. I am sharp and incisive. I will not sugar coat or hold back my opinions. Use me if you really want to know and if you want it straight up.
4. What is your favorite type of reading? Five of Wands
My essential nature is altruism. I am here to support people and causes that are for the higher good. If you are serious about making a difference and finding a way to harmoniously work with group energy, I am your deck. Let’s build a new world together now.
5. Advice for strengthening and enjoying our relationship together. XX Judgement
I am here to help you to strengthen your direct connection with your Spiritual Guidance Team and your ancestors. Call them in when you prepare to work with me. I particularly like flower offerings and incense.
NOTE: In my personal pantheon of Master Guides and Teachers — my Master Guide Moses Moshe Rabeinu, is represented by XX Judgment.

6. What lesson are you here to share with me right now? Ten of Swords
When it’s over, it’s over. Sometimes stuff from my former less developed self tries to gain a foothold back in my consciousness — former avocations, habits, activities, certain people. These are all just one big distraction. The Eastern Ink Tarot is here to provide wise discernment. Accept that those old chapters are finished. I do not need to re-read them. A bright shining new day is dawning full of much more interesting and elevating content.
