Three cats are present on this card. One is an orange tabby who seems to be sprinting, but unfortunately for them, rushing through a carpet is not necessarily the best idea. We can see a brownish-red and beige carpet folding under them as they're trying to run over it. Two other cats are looking at the orange tabby, both on a wooden piece of furniture, one in a sitting position and the other one lying down. The floor looks like it's made of some beige marble tiles. The scene is taking place indoors, but we can easily see outside through 3 arched openings in the back. The wall is brown and separates into 2 pillars in between the openings. The pillars have a typically Rom…

In the bottom part of the card, we can see a calico cat sleeping on some white smooth surface (bed sheets?). The rest of the card is composed of many individual elements that probably represent what her dreams are made of. We can see a grey tabby kitten, a mouse sitting in a pile of dry leaves, a water fountain with a bird bathing in it, some kind of pink flowers, the face of a cat with half-closed eyes, a flying fish jumping over water, a bowl filled with shrimps, a fish-shaped cat toy, a branch of catnip flowers and a double fountain flowing with milk. Colors : Nothing stands out, but the colors are quite vibrant. This card is dealing with our dreams and wish…

A white and orange tabby cat is sitting on a flat rock in some arid area. Right next to him, a large cone-shaped seashell, golden orange in color, is holding up on some black stand. The cat has his ear very close to the opening of the seashell and seems to be listening, his eyes tightly shut. The shape of the seashell really reminds me of a gramophone or even a cornucopia. Right behind is standing a very colorful object with an arched top. It reminds me of a jukebox, but it also looks like those Virgin Mary garden shrines you can see in many places. It has a green base in the front with some wave designs on it. In the middle section, there is what looks like a silv…

A grey cat sleeping on a dark grey surface and seems to be having bad nightmares. We can see an exploding firecracker, electricity/lightning, a threatening large dog showing their teeth, thorny twigs, a bird of prey with their sharp claws, a tornado, a threatening cat showing their theeth, a tick and a threatening snake. Colors : Mainly grey. This card is there to remind us that ''[…] fears that overtake you are just that : fears.'' Whether they came from a vivid dream or from reality, they shouldn't cause disruptions to your everyday life. As the author advises, ''Wake up and put things back in perspective.'' Symbolism : Grey color : Symbolizes uncerta…

What looks like a grey colorpoint shorthair cat can be seen in a great state of panic on this card. He's lying on his back, all claws out, his mouth wide open suggesting he's screaming and his body seemingly entangled in a large dead branch. The surroundings depict a very arid and lifeless place, the ground all around being dry and naked and the leaves in the branch looking dead and brittle. In the background we can see the outline of some mountains partially hidden by a cloud of mist. The sky is covered in grey clouds and we can see 8 bats flying towards us. Colors : Grey and beige-brown, quite lifeless. Like the cat in the card, when we panic, we often lose …

A Siamese cat is walking on the grass with her 7 kittens diligently following her. The ground all around them seems to be made of green grass only, with some reeds visible on the right. That made me wonder if behind them that might be a lake and not the sky we actually see? I thought the greenish color of the sky was a bit weird and also I couldn't pinpoint what were the bright green 'slopes' on both sides. At first I thought they were some hills, but now I'm not so sure anymore. So my hypothesis is that they are near water, the green areas behind the grass could be due to the reflection of the Moon and we could be seeing the reflection of some stars in the water as…

An orange cat is lying down on a stone bench in a garden. She is facing us, but I don't feel like she is staring at us directly. Only the first half of her body is visible from our point of view. We are seeing the garden through a round opening in a beige brick wall. Nine pawprints decorate the bricks making up the opening. At the bottom of the card, we can see some vines crawling on the wall. The garden is filled with different varieties of colorful flowers. On the left we can see red roses, pink and purple foxgloves in the back and some other flowers I can't identify because of the lack of details. On the right, there is a large black cauldron on the ground, seemingly…

Hello all, I have the pleasure to announce that I'll be resuming my beloved Mystical Cats Tarot study group on this very forum! ;D I was already half-way through (on ATF), so I will copy-paste the cards I've done over the course of a couple of weeks. Hopefully, this will give time to people who might be interested in joining and commenting to do so a bit at a time, instead of having a hugh wall of posts appear all of a sudden! When I'll be done with the copy-pasting, I should be ready to resume the study and will most likely post at the same rhythm I used to, which was an average of 2 cards per week / 8 cards a month. I guess I can do a bit of an introduction t…

In the Mystical Cats Tarot, The Cat is the equivalent of The Fool. He leads us on the Way of the Cat, reminder of the usual Fool's Journey. You can see a cat standing in the middle of a cat-size paved way, smelling flowers and appearing quite relaxed and non-threatened. He's a typical mackerel grey tabby cat (striped), which is not a breed but a common pattern seen in cats. His underside from chin to abdomen and his paws are white. We can assume he's not in a rush, as his whole body is turned sideways (not facing towards the road) while he's smelling some flowers. We can see a lot of plants and flowers in the front of the image, but they become more sparse along the wa…

What looks like a flame point Siamese cat (also known as red point Siamese or flame/red point Colorpoint Shorthair) is sitting on a wooden surface, his left paw keeping a book open while his other paw is in the air. The right paw is surrounded by floating objects arranged in a circle and the resulting ball is full of some blue matter (electricity? energy?). The objects each represent one of the 4 elements : a fireball to represent Fire, a fish for Water, a catnip flower for Earth and a feather for Air. The cat looks quite concentrated on his task. The other objects on the surface are : a lit candle, a goblet, a pentacle disk, a crystal ball and a magic wand. Also in the…

I'm pretty sure the Priestess depicted on this card is a Russian Blue cat. (See the silky bluish silver coat, bright green eyes, dark nose and large ears.) She is sitting in an amethyst cave and is looking directly at the reader. She's wearing a silver necklace with 3 amethyst crystal points. Through 2 openings at the back, we can see it's night time outside. Many stars and a moon crescent (wet/horned moon) can be seen. There is also a mountain and some foliage. Interestingly, the amethyst crystals are not covering all sides of the card. In the lower left corner, there is an opening, meaning there is a part of the cave we can't see from our viewpoint. Colors : Purpl…

I can't be 100% sure, but I believe the Empress is a Turkish Angora cat. Her overall appearance and the Ottoman Empire feel of the card made me think so. So, let's say a white Turkish Angora cat is lying on a big red and gold cushion, feeding her babies. 4 kittens appear to be drinking, while one is standing, facing and looking towards the reader. The mother has her eyes closed and looks peaceful. She is wearing a head crown seemingly made of silver and gemstones. The cats are situated inside a purple tent. There is a band of golden fabric at the junction of the ceiling and the wall, a pink cushion on the floor and 8 roses scattered around the cushions. The tent is pla…

A red British Shorthair cat is sitting on a red and gold throne. He's wearing a gold necklace of purple/pink stones. He's looking at the reader with a serious and fierce look on his face. It struck me that his claws were somewhat visible on his front paws, as if not completely retracted. His tail is wrapped around his body, partly covering his front paws. Behind his head, on the throne's back, there is a golden laurel wreath. Above the wreath, on top of the throne, there is a golden crown. The throne is standing on top of a marble pillar that appears to be quite high, judging by the horizon line and the size of the trees in the back. The sky takes about half of the backg…

Hello my fellow Mystical Cats lovers! Truthfully, this card ain't the most easy one to decipher! I might need some help on the symbolism of this one, if anybody is somewhat knowledgeable about Egyptian symbology? So indeed the Priest is clearly a bronze-colored Egyptian Mau, wearing a multicolored Egyptian necklace. He's sitting on the ground, his left paw placed on a golden sphere covered with Egyptian symbols. He's facing us, but he's not looking in our eyes. We're not sure if he's gazing at something in particular or if he might be having a vision perhaps? Behind him, on his left, we can see a round golden tray containing embers and ashes. Pale smoke is coming o…

This card might not have as much rich and complex symbolism as the first ones, but the message is as purposeful and direct. 2 grey cats are cuddling on a purple cushion. Their eyes are closed and there is a definite feeling of well-being, you can almost hear them purring. Notice the position of their bodies, making them look like a kitty version of the yin-yang symbol. They are located outdoors, but there is a wooden arch above them with red/dark pink wild roses climbing around it. Behind them, we see a garden with a path leading to an exit, which happens to be a hole in between 2 long shrub walls. In the background, a tall mountain can be seen and we can catch som…

On this card, we can see a cat riding a chariot led by 2 dogs. The cat is mainly black (or dark grey?) with part of his chest and face being white. He also has a small patch of black above his mouth, making it look like a man's mustache. I couldn't help but think it resembles Hitler's mustache (sorry kitty). He's looking straight ahead and has his paws set on the chariot's edge in a very straight way too. There is a large yellow halo (like bursting rays) around him. The chariot, which looks like it's made of bronze or brass, has a roaring lion face on the front of its roof. On each side of the cat, there are 2 pillar-like structures with 'foliage' (made of the same …

A black cat is lying down in a bun/loaf position, a somewhat disturbed face on (eyes quite wide open at least). There are 2 small birds resting on him and 1 cuddled against his side. They appear friendly and relaxed. I'm taking a wild guess (after some non-conclusive research) and would say they might be young blue jays. If anybody is able to make a more educated guess please do! The scene takes place outdoors and the cat is lying on a flagstone ground. Behind him, on the left of the card, there is a bush with a branch making a loop in the shape of the infinity symbol. The symbol lies directly above the head of the cat, like in the original depiction of the Strength ca…

Please bear with me on this one, I have a LOT to say and even though I tried to connect my thoughts in a logical way and make my explanations as flowing as possible...well in any case, if something is not clear please let me know! :) A very big grey and white tabby cat is lying in a pomegranate tree. He is in a loaf/bun position, his eyes are semi-closed and to me it looks like he's smiling...a bit like Mona Lisa, I'd even venture to say. The tree is bearing ripe fruits and 12 pomegranates are depicted on the card. One of them is split open, which means it's very ripe. On the lower part of the card, we can see the trunk going further down, small branches and dense …

A bronze-colored Egyptian Mau is lying on its back as he playfully makes a huge mandala wheel spin round and round with his paws. His eyes are closed in pure bliss. He seems to be located in an enclosed space, not very large in length, but with an unknown depth and height. The 3 walls we can see are made of some brownish material and the floor is made of brownish square tiles. The wheel takes about half the space of the card and contains many details. It's made of 4 concentric circles. The most internal one contains the Aum (Om) symbol. The next circle is separated into 4 equal parts by diagonal axes. Each part contains a differently colored drawing/symbol. Red flam…

This card is the equivalent of the traditional Justice card. We can see a calico kitten being entangled in the thread of the ball she's playing with. (Since calicos, like tortoiseshells, are always female unless they're a mutant male, I will assume the former and use female pronouns.) The ball is made of twine and is mixed with some leaves, thorny twigs and feathers. The kitten is now indoors, on a grey floor, but we can see she's coming from outside, thanks to the dirt she left on her way. Behind her, we can see an arch with 2 columns at the limit between the grey floor and the outdoor scenery. There is a green plain with some trees and bushes scattered around. The…

This card is the equivalent of the traditional Hanged Man card. We can see a calico cat literally floating in the air. Her body is a bit twisted, a bit like when a cat is stretching languidly on the ground. When looking at the card reversed, I found that the way her front paws are placed looks like the traditional Hanged Man legs placement. She has one eye closed, as if she was winking at us. There are white sparkles all around her to show that magic is at work in this unusual situation. 3 long and thin pieces of wood are attached together, creating a kind of square arch around the cat. All around the arch, there are several flowering morning glories. I…

What we can probably assume is the dead body of an orange tabby cat is lying on a bed of catnip branches. The sky is not visible due to the presence of tall trees, but there are 4 rays of light falling on the cat from above. A transparent cat, quite likely representing this cat's soul, seems to be rising from the body. Behind, we can see a line of 8 other transparent cats coming out of the forest. At the bottom of the card, we can see some tall grass and behind the cat 3 trees are visible before it becomes too dark to distinguish anything. Colors : Mostly tones of green. The book is very straightforward in its main advice for this card. "If it's time to let …

A Chocolate Point Siamese cat (or maybe is it a Tonkinese?) is walking on top of a stone wall situated in the sea. They don't look bothered by the strong waves hitting the wall from both sides and the water level reaching quite high. In fact, the water doesn't seem to touch the cat at all! In the foam coming from the right side, part of a rainbow is clearly visible. In the stones ahead of the cat, faint markings of fossils are visible on the surface. A bit further behind the cat, the wall seems to stop abruptly. In the top left corner of the card, we can see part of the shore, with some foliage and the lower part of an abrupt cliff. There seems to be an entrance to a…

A yellow-eyed cat with a black and silky short-haired coat is sitting on the ground with their mouth wide open, as if they were hissing or screaming. We should note that except for the 'hissing' mouth and the dilated pupils, this cat doesn't show any of the typical signs an angry or scared cat would display. They're sitting in a straight manner, the tail wrapped around the body, hair is not ruffled at all and their ears are not flattened. They have the characteristics of the Bombay cat, a breed always displaying a silky black shorthair coat with yellow/golden eyes, but it might have been fortuitous. They're sitting on a dead bird, one of their paws laying on it with th…

We can see 3 cats falling from a very high and fancy cat tree. The 3 are falling from different heights and have their bodies in different positions. The highest one, a white and orange tabby cat, is on their back with a look of uncertainty on their face. The one in the middle, an orange spotted tabby cat with dark points, is on their side with their back facing us. The lowest one, a grey classic (blotched) tabby cat, has their paws facing down and is looking towards the ground, seemingly ready to land. When looking at them one after the other, you can see the progression in their body positions. The cat tree is made of a yellow marble pillar-like structure that …
