Ayla's Cards of Truth

I wasn't sure which section to post this deck in, since the creator refers to it as "a playing cards deck together with 22 Arcana and 4 knights." So, perhaps this should go in Oracle Decks? But then I thought, well, it is a 78 card deck with 4 suits plus 22 majors...sounds like a tarot deck. Feel free to move this post if it is decided that it should be somewhere else!

I just saw this deck and thought I would share here: http://aylabyingrid.com/aylas-cards-of-truth/. I really like a lot of the majors. The artist conveys so much with through relatively simple imagery. Not sure how I feel about the "minors", but she does describe them as playing cards after all, and I suppose they do look like playing cards. Looks like the creator is based in Romania, but the deck is still relatively inexpensive!

I'd call it a "Tarot deck". Yes, she went back to Spades, Hearts, etc for the suits, but the meanings she attributes to the cards is pretty much Tarot. And, the fact that she has provided "meanings" at all indicates to me that the intent is to use them for divination. I do notice that the elements of Spades (normally Swords) and Clubs (Wands) are switched; Spades are Fire and Clubs are Air. But this is true in several other decks as well.

The Majors are interesting as they have gone for a pretty minimalist set of images that does still seem to portray the ideas fairly well. But I'm with you on the Minors. I much prefer scenic Minors, but these are definitely not scenic and remind me of simple playing cards or maybe a TdM type of deck. Overall, I'm not to crazy about it ...
