Millie Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Seems appropriate, given that it is Martinmass tomorrow and we are officially entering winter, to think about the gifts or benefits of all aspects of the dark. From the literal long winter's nights to the shadow sides of our souls and the the painful or fear inducing, destructive aspects of life. 2020 has brought plenty of examples to choose from and I don't mean merely finding positive aspects or outcomes of horrible situations but what we can learn about ourselves by seeking out the lessons, even the painful ones. I was thinking about Trump (who hasn't?) and it struck me how he has taught me that sheer force of will can propel a person to dizzy heights. He simply doesn't believe he can or should fail. That kind of self belief, as caustic as it is, can be useful as an example of what is possible when the negative voice in one's head is switched off. Would anyone like to share what they have learned through the dark times?
gregory Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 That it really is darkest before the dawn - so there will be an end to it all. Trite, but I actually learned it in actual person !!!

Trite, but I actually learned it in actual person !!! Yup, same here, and sometimes it feels like everything has broken down. That seems to be part of it too.
