NA01 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 For raising funds for Self-publishing decks, which is more effective, Kickstarter or Indiegogo? For those who have used both or either, what was your experience with it? What are some pros and cons?
gregory Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 In my experience as a buyer, I prefer Kickstarter, as they never deliver funds to the creator unless the target is reached. This stops people getting all enthusiastic as money trickles in, spending the money and then not reaching the target and letting everyone down - and not refunding either, because they already spent the money. As one who created a deck in a small sort of way, I REALLY like POD printers - no risk and they do all the work with collecting money, mailing etc. I don't think I could ever be bothered with fundraising sites.
Arcadia Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Like Gregory, POD is a great way to self-publish they will sort out the delivery destinations and deal with any problems with damaged cards etc. Also you can set up your own shop store for selling your decks, add as many images as you like but remember don't use high res images for you're own protection.
Decan Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) I was part of some Kickstarter campaigns in the past, never with Indiegogo. Maybe because of the way they promote their projects on Kickstarter and on Indiegogo; I never heard much about people supporting a project with Indiegogo to be honest. Or because of the "gogo" part; in my country to be a "gogo" means to be a sucker, so well... 😁 But I prefer POD decks, depending on the deck and the quality offered. For me a POD means premium quality for the cardstock, if the quality offered is standard for a POD it's too bad (but it happens). Edited December 17, 2020 by Decan
DanielJUK Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Print on Demand @DestinationQ1 🙂 There is a good list of companies who do tarot POD here....
DestinationQ1 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Never used Indiegogo. I have used Kickstarter and I like it. A lot of work in creating a project on KS but it’s fun and addicting haha
gregory Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 POD means you don't have to get any money up front on ANY platform !
