Page of Ghosts Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Back at AT there was a study group for this deck (well, the two different editions of it just goes as one deck for simplicity). It hadn't come very far and less than 10 cards were up, I think? This summer I got the Jolanda Tarot and started to do some more Majors in the study group. I got to the Emperor before AT shut down, but I always wanted to get back to it at some point. Now I've been seeing more people than me owning this deck in the DOTW thread so I'm wondering if anyone would like to start up a study group here? To keep it all in one place I'm thinking we should do all the cards regardless of where AT left off but I'm definetely open for suggestions about this. I had a lot of fun trying to understand the cards and the LWB leaves a lot to desire for those who only read English and can't get the Swedish book.
Libra 58 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I forgot about that group! :shhh: I was in there sharing some of my thoughts about that deck. Shame it had to stop because of ATs closing. :(
Raggydoll Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 This is an old thread but in case people are still interested I thought I should mention that I have the Swedish book so I could share if there is anything specific you want to know. She did address a lot of the symbolism there (like for instance, why there is a panda on the emperor card ;)) But maybe you already have that book Libra 58[/member] ? I just saw that you’re from Sweden too! :heartz:
Raggydoll Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Oh, and I forgot to mention. Josie now has a YouTube channel where she has made videos that relate to each card - with English subtitles. Have only seen a few of them but I think they might be interesting. Don’t know how much of the symbolism she talks about but I believe she focuses more on the underlying energies of each card. I’ll add the link in a while when I’ve finished my morning coffee 8) Edit to add: It’s the first video (a trailer/introduction), not sure if she ever finished the whole series
Libra 58 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 (edited) Thank you! I shall look into that later. At least it´s up to card 7 I saw. It's nice that they speak Swedish, makes it easier to understand what they are talking about! 🙂 I don't use the Jolanda deck often, but I still love it! Maybe after looking at the videos I start working with it again? Edited June 9, 2020 by Libra 58

This might change in the future though, plus I actually liked the book a lot. It’s a bit ‘out there’ in some regards but I really appreciate the information and the confidence she has!!
ATAMARZIA Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Hello, new to the forum and even if this is not ongoing I would really like to get some inputs on the Jolanda tarots. I am doing some research but to have access to the original book - although in swedish - would be amazing and could ask for help for translating it maybe? Thanks!

And I was a subscriber. I treasure having the deck, but have never been confident in using it. But plan on getting it out tonight for another look through. Like many other decks (Medieval Scapini? I hope you're listening USGames!), I wish the drawings were a little larger.

I was never able to fully connect with this deck, it was the mix of Thoth and RWS and other varied influences that didn’t fully resonate. I did still enjoy her book. She’s quite a colorful person and a great storyteller.

I thought that they looked very user friendly and chatty. Lots of diff references but easier to see than I remembered. The lwb is almost useless as it doesn't reference the card images. Just canned tarot meanings. So her book discusses the actual deck?

Her deck is a mix between Thoth and feminist witchcraft, I’d say.
