Make that one a DOUBLE please - Lenormands we need two of

Recommended Posts

When I am doing readings back to back, sometimes I like to keep using a certain deck, and I switch decks between readings.  Just my thing.  I grab a "fresh" deck that's in order.  Again, just how I roll, we all do it the way we do it.  So having more than one of some of the decks I read a lot with helps.  They're not back ups, they're literally back-to-back decks.

For me, reall's Ancient Lenormand, Seven Stars Vintage Lenormand are two of those decks.  While I love other decks, and Robyn's/Chronata's Petit Lenormand Noir is one I am especially, not that easy to get another of.

SO which of your Lenormands, FOR WHATEVER REASON, do you have two of, or want two (or more) of and why?  Read with it a lot?  Back up because it's a hard to get deck?  Collector?

I have a number of Blue Owls (no poems) as that was the... nope that is a little incorrect...when I first started learning the Lenormand I had no cards and had to resort to visual observations, scraps of paper and jotting things down plus one of the German ladies teaching me had very limited English. She was a traditional reader. Both women though had Blue Owl Lenormand decks - I didn't. Not for a wee while anyhow. 🙃

In a single year (earlier on when I made the leap to learn) it wasn't uncommon for me to go through something like 20+ decks or more per year. Used and then discarded.

Practice makes perfect and especially when you are trying to leave one style to evolve to another.

So, although I currently love a lot of the decks I have - the Blue Owl handsdown is my go to and has always been my faithful companion and familiar.

In a previous thread I did state I have Lenormand decks that are two or more because of the OOP or limited edition aspect to them, but out of all the decks I have, the Blue Owl outnumbers them all.

I love the Blue Owl 200%!

I love hearing how much readers love certain decks.  I don't collect, the decks I have more than one of I use, although I totally get why people get more than one of an oop or limited edition to tuck away.  I loved your description of your faithful companion 🙂

When my business was really busy a year ago, I would have a few readings per day and I never reused a deck.  I always would pull a fresh deck.  Just a quirk with me I guess!

Double quirk!  I have to do the same thing!  Which is why if I really like a certain deck, I get multiples.  That way, I can keep using a certain version, just a fresh one.

I only use three Petit Lenormands. The Brepols pattern, that is  currently published by Carta Mundi (Jeu Lenormand), is my primary deck. It was not my first deck, but it became my Lenormand.

I have four copies, of which two are in use. One has been in continuous use since 2006 and is starting to fade in some places. But I will part with it only when I have to. Every four weeks I switch and clear and clean the deck.

On very busy days after so many readings, I will switch to the backup. There is no set amount of readings. The cards tell me — and I have a different pattern to avoid shades

Brepol's is a great one. What are shades?

As for me, my go-to's are anything pre-1950's or so. Dondorf, Wust, and yes, Brepol's. I have multiple Dondorf repros with different colored backs, etc. I don't have a strong preference for any particular one.

Ah, Andy.  Interesting.  You would most certainly know what works for you. 🙂   I remember you from AT.  You had very interesting posts.

When I read Lenormand for others, I like to have them in order for each reading.  So if I wish to use the same deck, it helps to have a back up ready to go.

Essentially, they’re impressions of past readings that can (at times) cast a shadow over a second reading. Over time, I believe it can build up. So, if I have a heavy day, I want to break/limit the imprint (shade).

I do not believe in Euclid and Empedocles’ optical

rays, per se, but I think that when we look there is something left there.  I don’t profess to know what or why, but I’ve found it with the cards and the crystal-sphere.

Of course I understand that this probably sounds strange or even mad. Growing up, however, there was a strong (cultural) belief in the power of eye and the mind/thought. That has certainly influenced me but it is not a traditional/shared belief.

I've definitely noticed it with the crystal at times. 🙂
It will be interesting to experriment with. On the one hand, I'm a big proponent of keeping the cards "hot". But there may well be something to this, as well.

it's near universal, with some minor differences here and there. My grandmother definitely believed in it. And I commented on a friend's glass Turkish eye, and he replied "You mean the ojo?" So the cultures are starting to run together.

And I do think it's real. I've seen it, and I've taken it off. I don't think it's anything supernatural, just something we don't understand well.

If you're mad, so is everybody else. 😉

That is something that I believe in, too.  I rotate between the two copies of my primaries and I find four weeks is safe. We “know” Euclid’s rays do not exist but I believe something is left — and in readings that does seem to be more potent.

Yes. It did go beyond the evil-eye; unkind thoughts, looking at something you should not, and so on. Quite a lot of the supernatural is preternatural.

The Dondorf pattern is the closest the Petit Lenormand has come to a standard. There were several editions and even bootlegs (my aunt’s) from the start. The “Lilac” is probably my favourite.

The Wust I acquired is missing corners and beyond use. It is, however, beautiful.
