EmpyreanKnight Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 EmpyreanKnight - Golden Dawn Magical Tarot
Trogon Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 I've been really enjoying my Bonefire Tarot (now that I can shuffle it ;D), and since that and my Albano-Waite are new, I'll continue with those for a while; Trogon - Bonefire Tarot and Albano-Waite Tarot
Bodhiseed Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 I'm in with the Roots of Asia Tarot paired with Mah Jong Cards. Thank you VGimlet! :D
Rose Lalonde Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Rose Lalonde - Roots of Asia Tarot and Naruto Oracle Thanks, VG!
Page of Ghosts Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 I liked my week with the Sasuraibito so much that I wanna stretch it for at least one more week. Similarily I tried out a proper reading with my one lenormand deck recently and I feel like dipping a bit more than my little toe into the system. I'm not sure I need a different daily spread for my lennie so I'll have to do a bit of reading on blogs etc. to figure it out. Page of Ghosts - Sasuraibito Tarot & The Dreaming Way Lenormand
VGimlet Posted November 25, 2017 Author Posted November 25, 2017 I'm in with the Dirty Tarot for 4 weeks, and a few 22 card decks too, because the Dirty is almost an Oracle...sort of...lol... Vgimlet - Dirty Tarot
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 I looked at the Dirty Tarot and whew it looks intriguing.
Bodhiseed Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 I looked at the Dirty Tarot and whew it looks intriguing. I agree! ;D
Bodhiseed Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 This week I'll be using the Roots of Asia Tarot, created by Amnart Klanprachar with Thaworn Boonyawan and published by AGM Müller. I'll also be using the Mah Jongg Oracle, created by Derek Walters and published by Thunder Bay Press. Today's cards are the Five of Cups and the 'Woodcutter:' The essence of being human is that one does not seek perfection, and that one is prepared, in the end, to be defeated, and broken up by life, which is the inevitable price of fastening one’s love upon other human individuals. ~ George Orwell I know that people are imperfect, yet I still slip into making assumptions and having expectations about them. There was the friend who was so full of enthusiasm for life yet was secretly cheating on his wife. There was the spiritual leader who let slip a racial slur. There was the boss who praised hard work but never gave a raise. Disappointment comes in many guises and may feel like an icy-cold shock or a slow-sinking dread. A feeling of loss and sadness (and perhaps anger as well) permeates everything. In this version of the Five of Cups, the two whole bowls stay anchored in the mind while the other three are cut loose. It reminds me to keep my mind focused on what is good while realizing that everyone (including me) has both positive and negative traits. The Woodcutter from the Mah Jongg deck chops wood that may be used in building or to warm his home. But effort must come before the enjoyment. The same is true of dealing with emotional loss in that I must work to make room to process the hurt while not shutting out the sunlight at the same time.
VGimlet Posted November 26, 2017 Author Posted November 26, 2017 I looked at the Dirty Tarot and whew it looks intriguing. I agree! ;D It is a really cool deck, and I'm planning to use it - if I can FIND it. I thought I knew exactly where it was, but I was wrong. Grr..... So if I don't find it by tomorrow I'll be switching to the Druidcraft for 4 weeks. <grumble>
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 So the Dirty Tarot happens to be naughty too, hiding from you like that. :P
VGimlet Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 So the Dirty Tarot happens to be naughty too, hiding from you like that. :P Yep. Now I have to figure out where I put it, because I seriously thought I knew where it was exactly. (In the box with 60 percent of the Tarot Decks that either came unboxed and are now in bags OR came in bags...) But I knew I was going to use it for a month long DOTW at some point, so now I'm wondering if I put it in a different special place...augh. going through my decks and figuring out some kind of system to find them is on the LIST. Hahahaha.

Love that 5 of Cups with the vivid image of the steady thread on whole bowls and snapped on the cracked three. A clear reminder of the good as you said, and that we can control internally how we decide to respond when we have little control over the external. The balanced attitude you're talking about in recognizing the positive and negative in all of us... Such a great deck.
Rose Lalonde Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 The only reading I've done for myself this week so far is with the I Ching. It's not what I originally said for DotW, but I've been re-reading Hilary Barrett's book today, and it seems to be where I'm spending the most time.
VGimlet Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Yay, the Dirty Tarot was found...exactly where I thought it was, I just needed to be a little bit more patient. Heh.

Page of Ghosts Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I'm having a good time with the Sasuraibito this week. It gives very thoughtful and good readings - recently I need to be a bit more like The Fool and don't take things so seriously. It's my first indie deck and I'm so very happy with it! The Lenormand deck I need to remember to use in the morning when it's the day for it, it's more of a fortune telling deck so I think it would be best to use it at the start of the day vs. tarot where I can reflect on the day if I miss my morning draw ;)
Bodhiseed Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 I'm having a good time with the Sasuraibito this week. I bought the Sasuraibito on a lark, never thinking it would be very readable for me because it is so simple in its symbolism. But the expressions and body language go a long way in reading with it, and I too was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the deck. Glad you're happy with it! :D

Glad you're happy with it! :D I've always been skeptical of sparse decks but after I got the Wild Unknown I'm more open to them. It really helps that there are people doing things in most of the cards and I get very riled up over the artwork - one of my favourite decks art-wise ;D
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 I love opulent, bold, unabashedly lavish decks with vibrantly rich colors, and I never thought that I would be down with minimalist, almost Zen-style decks myself. I began to like subtle ones when I got the Linestrider, and with the Wild Unknown I started to appreciate them a lot. Turned out that I did not really have horror vacui as I feared I did lol.
Lantana Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I love opulent, bold, unabashedly lavish decks with vibrantly rich colors, and I never thought that I would be down with minimalist, almost Zen-style decks myself. I began to like subtle ones when I got the Linestrider, and with the Wild Unknown I started to appreciate them a lot. Turned out that I did not really have horror vacui as I feared I did lol. I had a similar feeling about the Spirit Speak Tarot deck... I've never been drawn to it and I always thought it was because of the lack color since I loved her Vessel Oracle, but then the Divina Tarot came out and I loved it, and I also love the similarly monochrome Thea's Tarot so *shrug*. Y'all wanna talk about sparse decks though, check out indie decks like the Nomad Tarot and the Wanderer's Tarot. Even someone who was a stance Wild Unknown and minimalist defender was like, whaaat? But at the same time, I can see the appeal... Just not for me! (Oops, why am I replying to a thread I didn't participate in four days late? :-[)
EmpyreanKnight Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I checked out the Nomad Tarot and it has some WU overtones. The Wanderer's Tarot tho.
Page of Ghosts Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I like the Nomad Tarot (the majors are nice, the minors look a bit too sparse but if I really wanted to I might make it work) but it irks me a bit that it's stylized as the NØmad, haha. It's an actual letter in my language, not just a fancy O! Do they mean a nomad (as in a wanderer who moves around and doesn't settle in one place) or an actual Nuuh-mad, which is close to how you would say it? I'm a little confused :o Case in point: http://littleredtarot.com/product/the-nomad-guide-to-the-tarot/
