katrinka Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 The art is taken from Yellow Submarine, and it is, as expected, busy. This is not a deck I would recommend for beginners, nor would I use it myself for large spreads. But if you're thoroughly familiar with Lenormand and old Beatles tracks, it's a fun deck. And it looks like the artist did put some thought into it. In addition to the trippy images, there are snatches of song lyrics - sometimes lyrics from several songs on the same card: So that's Blackbird, Till There Was You, and And Your Bird Can Sing, all songs about very different subjects (Civil Rights, love, Marianne Faithfull - "bird" was a slang word for a prostitute that eventually came to mean girls in general, and the Beatles and Stones had a bit of a rivalry in those days.) - all of which need to be reconciled with Lenormand Birds - quite a puzzle! Additionally, the LWB is song lyrics, as well: That has Got To Get You Into My Life for Birds. Another love song. All of this can be done if you're used to putting things in context. Birds pair off (love). The Civil Rights struggle was a time of extreme tension. The lifestyles megafamous touring musicians and their entourages could get hectic. It all somehow manages to fit. My tax return is still processing and it's been awhile, so I did a 3x3 to see if anything was wrong: Ship Moon Rider Letter Bear Key House Tree Clouds A quick, straight-up Lenormand read doesn't seem to suggest any major problems, but rather, a glitch. Briefly: Ship + Clouds confirms that there may be an issue with processing my return. But Rider + House assures me that I'll be getting something tangible. Moon + Letter + Bear + Key + Tree suggests that I will be hearing from them in about a month, and that my personal finances are probably not under threat. The thing that's worrisome is the Clouds in the lower right, so it might be a good idea to call the IRS just to be sure. I don't like them sitting next to the Tree, Bear and Key. The songs are: All Together Now/Lucy In The Sky; Mr. Moonlight; Day Tripper/Lucy In The Sky/Ticket To Ride Across The Universe/PS I Love You; none; Everybody's got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey When I'm 64; Strawberry Fields; Let it Be/Tell Me What You See The Bear is PARTICUARLY interesting here. It features this guy, yikes: And although there is no lyric on the card itself, the LWB ascribes it to Taxman: https://genius.com/The-beatles-taxman-lyrics It looks like I'll be getting less than expected. Once again, the cards KNOW, lol. Or maybe not. It's a fairly new deck and very different from what I'm used to. I'll give this some time and see how it plays out.
Anabiyeni Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 I love Yellow Submarine, but this deck is too much. My eyes have no idea where to look or what to focus on. For now I will stick to the much simpler Green Glyphs, but I hope it works out for you. The yellow submarine as the ship appeals to me.

I don't read by focusing my eyes on details, but I can concur that this would be a maddening deck to use for a Grand Tableau, or any spread much larger than the one I posted. Trying to locate any particular card quickly would be a one way ticket to a rubber room! The Green Glyphs is a good, attractive, readable deck. For myself, I normally I prefer old patterns. Mostly pre-1950. This is my current go-to, the 1903 Geûens-Willaert: That's the one I'd have used for more serious inquiries. (True, money is serious - but I don't really have high expectations for the IRS. So it's more like a game.) The Beatles deck is for fun. It's like doing puzzles. 😁 Edited May 3, 2021 by katrinka
aries_dreaming Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Wow, interesting deck. But yeah, too much going on. But I love the idea of the song lyrics intermingled with the cards and meanings. That's just neat. 🙂

Been there, done that in years past so I just kept procrastinating. But I did get my tax return last week. It was about 1/3 the amount I expected. Apparently I'd made an error of some kind and they adjusted for that. The snapping turtle-bellied taxman ate his fill, and it fits Bear as it was stored money. You can depend on Lenormand, even psychedelic Lenormand. 😁 Again, this is not a learner's deck, but it has a little extra nuance that I like. Definitely a keeper. Edited June 19, 2021 by katrinka

katrinka Posted June 19, 2021 Author Posted June 19, 2021 Hello. 🙂 I was thinking about this deck when I was reading that bit you said in another thread recently: "There has to be some rapport between reader and deck. A meeting of temperaments." I'd probably never attempt a Lenormand this elaborate if it was themed differently. There would be no reason to, and it would impose unnecessary complication. But having one with something as familiar as old Beatles tunes appeals to me. It's a labyrinth, but the labyrith is almost thoroughly known. 😉

There is something there between that acts as a navigator. You can still see the ground through the landscaping. I think that is why I can never quit let go of the Harris-Crowley. I can still see the core there — or pre-Heru age as Crowley would say.
