Linking posts and retitling them into a post.

I don't know if that made sense or not.....

What I need to know is if there is a way to link an individual post into the first post of a thread and change or add to the appearance of that link to show the poster's name, so they can click on that link and be taken to their post.  It's probably a simple matter, but I'm unfamiliar with SMF formatting functions.

In the group reading sub forum, for the Sacred Days of Yule reading, I'd like to be able to link the username in the readers list to their reading post.

I had a look for you Blue, Each post in a thread has a post number like on ATF. On each post at the top of the post is the subject of the thread eg for this one Linking posts and retitling them into a post, that top subject of each post has the link to the post.

if you want to link people, it's the same as AT but I can't see a way of doing it in the buttons so to use bbcode...

[url=https://url of the post that I described above. com]username[/url]

I've made it so you can see that code to copy but you put the link after url= and the name after the ]

for example to link to your post here =

[url=https://www.thetarotforum.com/assistance/linking-posts-and-retitling-them-into-a-post/msg10751/#msg10751]Bluedragonfly[/url]

makes this Bluedragonfly

if it goes wrong, you might have put a space somewhere or not closed all the brackets in the line, sorry it's tricky but it's exactly the same code that AT used and I learnt it over the years :)

Awesome!  Thanks for your help, Daniel!  I'm tech challenged as it is, so the difference threw me.  I'll go practice!  ;D

Yay, it worked!

I wanted to ease your work load a little, Little Fang and I learnt how to find post links and numbers in the threads whilst helping, so we all learnt something from it  ;D :-*
