Pretzel Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 I've been wanting to pull the trigger on these two decks for so long. I love the amount of symbolism in them and the mythology behind the Apokalypsis. But I wonder how people go with doing a whole reading with them? I can see how I could use them for clarifiers, but realistically speaking, how do you guys go with using them for a whole large spread like the Celtic Cross? For reference, I love Ciro Marchetti decks, so I'm not shy about colour and detail.
gregory Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 They work quite well for "intuitive" readings. I hate the term, but it's the only one we have except for the one called "glorpish" that someone once applied to me ! All readers use their intuition, and I object to the implication i the term "intuitive reading" that they don't - but I usually ONLY use the images and for that they work well as there's lots to go on.
Pretzel Posted July 24, 2021 Author Posted July 24, 2021 @gregory Thank you! I have no idea what glorpish is, lol (it sounds like a UK term?). But I do understand what you mean by 'intuitive' - it gets a bad rap. You're right, we all use our intuition, otherwise we'd all be reciting the same half a dozen keywords. I use 'intuitive' to mean there's lots for me to extract from the image and can access just the right meaning. Not that I've tried, but I'm pretty sure I'd find it difficult to read with minimalist cards. Good to hear they work well for you - I was wondering if they are 'too much' in a spread. Thanks for sharing!
gregory Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Glorpish is a word someone (an American, IIRC) on AT invented when we were talking about the ways people read: https://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=89767 For me - it stuck. https://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=143767
TheLoracular Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 (edited) Any spread over 7-8 cards is a real trial for me because of my fibromyalgia crashing down and I lose coherency and focus. The deck I'm using makes a HUGE impact on how long I can keep it together; I wouldn't enjoy even a mid range (6-8 cards) reading with decks as colorful but jarring as those two on a day (like today) where I'm in a lot of pain and head achy. BUT? I don't hate either of them and would happily use either to give someone a simple 3-card or 4-card reading on any day I was up to reading cards at all 🙂 Edited July 24, 2021 by TheLoracular

I’m working with it this week for the Deck of the Week thread, and I’ll be sure to try out a large spread or two and post it there if you are interested! 🙂

Fascinating threads. Thanks for sharing Gregory.

Thanks for sharing, that's helpful and good to know that 3 or 4 cards are fine even for 'those' days.

Yes I can see how Apokalypsis is underrated... the book alone, from what I can tell, is a great resource. That's awesome that you're working with it this week for Deck of the Week - I'll definitely subscribe! Thanks so very much for sharing 🙌
