Hi, I’m Rayenae and I love tarot. Im still learning, and this place seems like a great resource. I actually lurked the aeclectic tarot forum a while back, though I never joined officially.

Im a little nervous because I am a secular tarot reader. That is to say that I don’t really believe in predicting the future per se, but use the cards as a way of getting in touch with my feelings and inner self. I hope that’s not an issue and that I can still find my place here.

Hi Rayenae, welcome to the forum. You'll be absolutely fine here as secular reader :animated-smileys-signs-085:

Thank you for the warm welcome! I figured I was probably worried for nothing.

Hi and welcome! You'll be OK here. All types of readers are welcome.
"Secular" isn't how I'd describe introspective reading, though. Secular is defined as "not religious or spiritual." Some people do introspective readings in a religious or spiritual framework, calling on guides, etc. I do predictive but I don't call on anything when I do, so it's secular.
Not throwing down the bone of contention, just wanted to mention that. 😉

Welcome!

Hmmm… maybe “secular” isn’t quite the right word? It’s definitely spiritual for me, just not magical I guess

Yes. I think a lot of the confusion comes from the internet. We're almost always depicted with candles and crystals and pentagrams, wearing purple and tons of silver jewelry, lol. But a lot of us don't do any of that.
Mine are only "magical" in the sense that I don't know why it works. I'm sure people thought magnets were magical too, once. 😁

Welcome to the community @Rayenae glad you have found us here 🙂

I was the same as you, I came to tarot from a secular place (not sure if that's the best word either but it works here). I have moved away from that and into spirituality again because of using the tarot but people come to divination here from all backgrounds and positions

Welcome @Rayenae Hope you will feel at home soon!

Hi Rayenae,

I LOVE your name for starters.

I'm also still learning and thought this would be a great place to start learning and getting feedback / advice.

I hope these forums help you with what you're looking for 🙂
