Guest Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) It says the deck is a reproduction from the Lo Scarabeo collection. What does that mean? Does anyone know their history? Why are they called Grand Tableau? Just a gimmick? https://www.loscarabeo.com/en/products/grand-tableau-lenormand-oracle-card Edited August 31, 2021 by Guest
gregory Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) It's a very nice deck in a decent little box. I think they just called it that because the cards are a reasonable size. Katrinka likes it: it was discussed in this thread. On 7/16/2021 at 10:05 PM, katrinka said: First impressions: The box is, oddly, linen. This got my hopes up that the cards would be, too, but alas - no such luck. And the box could have used those little half-moon cutouts on the sides to make it easier to open. It's a sturdy, attractive box, but I'll be finding a case for the cards. The LWB is, as mentioned, terrible. Besides the issues noted earlier, in the instructions for the 9x4 it says "If it's difficult to spread out all the cards in an ordered fashion on a tablem divinatory mat can be used." (Which I'm sure LS would be happy to sell to you.) If you don't have space for a GT, a mat won't help, obviously. It goes on to tell you to find the Man or Woman - OK - and also tells you to find the Key, which will be "the focus of the reading." (Uh...NO! I do look for the Key, since what comes after it is certain. But it's not "the focus.") There's more twaddle, like the top row being "spiritual aspects", but I stopped reading. The cards themselves are as described already, a few minor issues but nothing I can't work with. I like the colors and the linework, and a lot of the cards are Dondorf-like in addition to being an early Piatnik, so it's like the best of both worlds. The stock is sturdy and a bit stiff. All in all, it's a good deck. 🙂 Edited August 31, 2021 by gregory
DanielJUK Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I've moved this thread over to the Lenormand section where it will fit better as a deck discussion 🙂
WizardintheWoods Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 The deck you asked about is a reproduction and renamed version of a Piatnik circa. 1890 Lenormand deck. I went to a private seller rather then a large company (I love supporting the small business) as she is known for great work on very nice card stock. I took a photo of the tuck box that it comes in just in case there is an interest. I prefer using the older repro decks, with the exception of using Maybe Lenormand a lot. I can post the sellers website if you like, Lauren is a gem to order from, I just don’t want anyone to think I am pushing her cards on anyone.
