WyalusingTim Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 There are various ways to do readings - card spreads - and number of cards used for a reading. It is not clear to me whether or not the cards are placed face down at first in the spread and turned over one at a time while moving through the reading until the final card is revealed, or all cards are turned over before the reading begins...in the latter the cards selected need to be placed in the chosen spread face down. Also does the spread selected impact whether cards are placed down or up and how each card is revealed for a reading. And is this impacted if a personal reading or for someone else?
katrinka Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 ??? I just lay the cards face up. There's really not much of a point in laying them face down only to turn them all over.
gregory Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I'm with katrinka. But if you want to lay them face down - your reading, your choice.
katrinka Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Yep. It could be problematic with Lenormand, though, since you're reading combinations.
gregory Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Oops I didn't notice we were in the Lenormand section. DEFINITELY face up.
WyalusingTim Posted September 3, 2021 Author Posted September 3, 2021 My concern makes more sense with this example. How you meet someone, for example, has an impact on the interaction. Do you meet the person one on one or in a group, a crowd even. If you visit a coffee house and it isn't busy when you meet the Clerk for the first time, or it is very busy when you meet the Clerk for the first time. That is what I have in mind when I look at a card one at a time versus see them all at once!
gregory Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 I really don't think Lenormand works that way. They are quite specific.
WizardintheWoods Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 (edited) Agree with Katrinka. With the cards on either side, and depending on the spread the vertical or diagonal, the interplay is what is important so why not start face up and save time. Lenormand cards are never really read alone/one at a time. Edited September 3, 2021 by WizardintheWoods
gregory Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 @WyalusingTim you do realise how very different Lenormand is from tarot ?
katrinka Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Apparently he doesn't: 1 hour ago, WyalusingTim said: Do you meet the person one on one Your card + their card. 1 hour ago, WyalusingTim said: or in a group, a crowd even. I'd want to see the Park with the others for that. The cards need to be viewed together.

Are you talking about tarot or Lenormand readings? This is the Lenormand section so I'm assuming you want to talk about Lenormand but I can move this thread if you'd like to discuss this in relation to tarot.
